Owner description: This heritage-listed Botanic Garden was originally conceived by Professor John Henslow, the mentor and teacher of Charles Darwin. The Garden's plant collections today number over 8000 species from all over the world, displayed within the best collection of trees in the region. The 40 acres of beautifully-landscaped gardens and glasshouses offer year-round interest and seasonal inspiration. The excellent Cafe and Shop are also open year-round. An oasis in the City, this great Garden makes a great day out.

New to the Garden since we last visited is the Children's Garden. Being avid gardeners, we were pleased to see the educational opportunities being afforded the new generation of gardeners. When we lived in Cambridge in the early 1990's, we often visited with our young daughter. The Winter Garden continues to be a favorite of ours. The garden provides visitors horticultural education in well labelled beds. The color of blooming plants, annual and perennial, are a feast for the eyes even late in the growing season. For plant lovers, a visit to the Botanic Garden is an absolute must.

“Colour and interest all year round”
Reviewed October 8, 2013

Carefully themed areas, specially interesting is the tropical, dry and cold green houses, with vegitation from around the world. Take home ideas for your own garden from the beautifully tended water and rose gardens. Lovely cafe to sit and savour the view

“Nice visit near train station”
Reviewed October 6, 2013

Spent about an hour walking through the gardens. A few minute walk from the Cambridge Station down Station Road. Entered on Station Road and exited by the opposite side, leading to Kings Parade Road and into town. A nice café and outdoor seating.

“A beautiful oasis and centre for research.”
Reviewed October 1, 2013

What a wonderful place! Beautiful and restful garden to spend hours in. In addition there is fantastic research going on here. We were fortunate enough to go "behind the scenes" at the Sainsbury research lab- this really is the way research should be done..
