Proper local pub with decent sized clean rooms, en suite.
One of the very few places in Cambridge that will allow one night stays not which is important to us as we bring our son down to Uni at the beginning of term and this place is really good value for money. Small car park which is free for guests.
Fresh cooked breakfast with unlimited tea or coffee.
We had a late night drink in the bar which has a good selection of drinks.
It did everything we needed for a place to sleep - clean, good sized rooms with en-suite, parking and food, so good in fact we booked on leaving to come back at the end of term in June

We picked this pub as it was close to where our daughter both works and lives while she is at university. I was a little sceptical I must admit as its a pub but it just shows how you shouldn't judge! Having read the reviews on here I though Ok give it a go and we were not disappointed. This was one of the cleanest rooms I have ever been in including the bathroom. The bed was massive too (think its actually two singles together but its huge anyway) Nice greeting when we arrived and shown to our room, and I mean actually taken to the room and the door opened and heating put on.
Lovely clean towels, toiletries including one very handy pack which included a small nail file, cotton wool pads and ear buds! Fantastic.
Breakfast was fine and cooked fresh to order and as much tea and coffee as you wanted.
Close to the train station (but didn't hear the trains) close to the Travelodge central (which gets really bad reviews) and its associated restaurants.
About 10 min walk to Parkers piece and a good 15/20 mins into city centre but its one straight road so no problem.
Parking is free at the pub and we had no problem getting a space.
We will definitely stay here again next time we visit our daughter.
Give it a try. Friendly staff, very clean...FAB :)

The location is excellent. The staff great and the breakfast good quality and generous. Our bed was new and very comfortable. Our room was in the part that is not over the pub so no noise from the pub at all, even the live band. The only thing I would say is the room could have done with a good dust especially the mirrors and the bathroom was in need of a little TLC. Would stay again as my son has just moved to Cambridge for his job.

Nice place to stay, just spent a day in Cambridge and this was a really nice place to stay, good food at the charming pub, very accomodating, short walk into the center of town and shopping, located right by bus station, had read mixed reviews but I liked and would stay there again.

Local pub that is a very short walk from the train station.
Good pub food all day, especially the full english in the morning.
I tried a couple of pints of the Olde Trip which were well kept as far as I could tell.
It was fairly quiet on Sunday night, but I think they have live music on Saturday.
Linen, and bathroom were clean, and a good shower.

The rooms are mostly fair, but my bed was especially tired looking, with an overall concave appearance. Despite this is was reasonably comfortable, but a small investment here would improve this place considerably, even if just a new mattress topper.
The door locks are not the most security inspiring. If you need to feel secure in your bed, and that your possessions are secure while you're out, then this may not be the place for you. Again, a small investment could improve this easily - especially as screwfix is a 5 minute walk away.
The windows are ageing single glazed sash windows which are pretty loose, and quickly get dirty. If there is noise outside then you will hear it. Having said this, and despite the main road it was a fairly quiet night apart from a few loud people in the pub around 2am.

Seems like a good stopover place for tradesmen who want a cheap bed and a few pints. If this is outside your comfort zone then look elsewhere.

Very clean and modern room, friendly staff, great service, surprisingly quiet, convenient position, powerful shower, good size room, good price, excellent full english breakfast, nice pub with nice clientele - we had an excellent stay in Cambridge which was definitely made even better by staying here. It takes about 20 mins to walk into the centre of town and it is conveniently close to the station. Good size car park.

Room Tip: Rooms in the big main part at the back where nice.

Great real ale pub, good breakfast served until 11am so very sociable. The staff were really friendly. The room was basic but very noisey as it was over the bar. We were pre-warned but it went on until 3am as once the band stopped the staff cleared up, filling bins and scrapping chairs across the floor! I'd have booked a room in the annexe if I'd known there was one before I booked. Atmosphere not helped by loud, braying Cambridge Uni alumni having a stag party and bellowing in the corridors at 3.30am because one of them had been run over in town....by this hour I was wishing it had been all of them.... The pub would be great as a basic stopover in the week but take your earplugs if you go at weekend.

Room Tip: Ask for the annexe not the main building
