This is a very busy Pub in the centre of Cambridge and as a consequence has devised a novel way of reserving a table. We had booked a table for 7pm and arrived 40mins early to find the Pub heaving with every table occupied. We were told that as we were early our table was not available but we could either buy a drink at the bar and wait or return at seven and a table would be available. We decided that we would walk a short distance to the bar further down the street for a drink as a seat was easier to find. When we returned at seven were shown to our table and were amazed to find the table was ready even though every other table in the Pub was occupied. Try it yourself it's a novel method that they use but it works perfectly. As for the food it arrived quickly was reasonably priced and tasted wonderful and to top it off there were more than a dozen ales to choose from and the wine was reasonably priced as well. I will definitely return to eat and drink at this Pub.

While house hunting in Cambridge at the weekend we decided to pop in here for a bite to eat. He has the lamb shank which would melt in your mouth and I had the vegetarian burger with cheese. Mine was very very good - he even commented it was the best veg burger he had ever tasted! The portions were huge - I struggled to finish mine but soldiered through! The service was pretty fast - normal length of time to wait for freshly cooked food and then someone came over to check how our meals were.
Also I asked the barman to pick out pints for us and we were not disappointed either!
When I finally move over I will definitely be back :)

Typical English boozer, leaving this four star review to balance some of the negative reviews from our American cousins.

Beer, service, atmosphere, noise, heaving evening crowd -- all toughly typical.

We took some friends over the weekend to have lunch there since its well-known reputation for the DNA discovery expecting normal pub English food. However, the order took more than half hour to arrive and once was on our table, it wasn't the right one! so, we had to wait another 15 minutes and still was not what we ordered, they changed the ingredients of what was state on the menu.
For being just pub food it was really bad, won't recommend to eat there, just for a beer!

Central very busy pub. Too loud at times and overall way far from having any personal feel on offer. Don't think I'd go back.
