Description: Located in the heart of Cambridge, opposite Kings College Chapel, The Cambridge Chop House is a traditional British bar and restaurant that has been popular with locals and visitors from further afield since it opened in 2007. Split over two levels, the ground floor boasts views of Kings College Chapel while the basement is an intimate, atmospheric cellar split into four rooms. The menu offers British classics made from locally sourced ingredients and the two course set lunch and pre-theatre menu is excellent value for money. Popular dishes include Mutton Barnsley chops; whole sea bass with wholegrain mustard sauce; and daily changing sausages made on site. The hearty portions are best served with local ales straight from the cask or wine from an extensive list.

“Beyond the Pub”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

The Cambridge Chop House is located across from King's College. If one dines upstairs, there is a view of King's College Chapel. We dined downstairs where we were surprised to find the restaurant extended under perhaps 2 additional buildings. It is surprisingly expansive with whitewashed walls, almost like dining in a wine cave. Beyond atmosphere, the food was fine. We both had fish that was fresh and moist. There were obviously regular locals at other tables. Would definitely come here again.

“Lovely food with a beautiful view!”
Reviewed September 20, 2012

Lovely little restaurant, great service and delicious food all with a spectacular view of King's College across the road. Good value as well (we went at lunch time and had the set menu). Would definitely return!

“Always fantastic”
Reviewed September 18, 2012

The Chop House has been a favourite of mine for quite sometime now and is never a disappointment.
The specials are fantastic and the local ale is great.
Definitely the place to go if you want a great meal at a very reasonable price.

“Great food and great experience”
Reviewed September 18, 2012

We had a party of nine including 3 children and were offered a wonderful cellar room which felt all our own where we could relax and enjoy the delicious food and hear each other. It felt so special, and the waiter had great patience when we dithered over the great menu, and the service was seamless.

“Spot on!”
Reviewed September 7, 2012

Absolutely spot-on food, of a very particular type of course. Both the steak and the suet pudding we had were really excellent, as were both starters. Well-chosen and well-kept real ales too.
