Description: The River Bar Steakhouse and Grill, with its cavernous loft-like vibe, quayside location and creative crowd, has become one of Cambridge's premier restaurants. Located close to the bustling town centre, in a riverside spot opposite Magdalene College, The River Bar Steakhouse and Grill is a popular choice for special occasion dining and drinks. The Grill serves the very finest prime cuts of beef, aged for 28 days and sourced from local farms. The menu includes a large selection of cuts, from a classic porterhouse to a tender fillet or indulgent chateaubriand for two. Burgers meanwhile are freshly made on the premises and marinated chicken and fresh fish come straight from the signature grill too. Though based around the steak, The River Bar Steakhouse and Grill caters superbly for vegetarians, serves sublime desserts and prior to your meal we heartily recommend enjoying hand mixed cocktails in the bar, the ideal start to any special evening.

We had a lovely dinner at the River Bar Steakhouse & Grill. The staff was very friendly, taking our coats when we arrived and showing us to our table. There were very flexible, and allowed us to move to another table after 15 minutes, which seemed nice because it was in a cosy corner. We had a mojito cocktail to start with, and enjoyed it very much. For food, we shared smoked salmon as a starter, which was nice and served with capers, fresh bread and horseradish. For the main, we splashed out and both ordered the expensive fillet steak, with mushrooms as a side dish, and it was definitely worth it. The steak was cooked medium rare, as ordered, and arrived with chips. Everything was steaming and sizzling hot when it was brought to our table, so it clearly had not been waiting around in the kitchen. We had a red Merlot with the steak, also served at just the right temperature. We finished the meal off by sharing a the lemon cheese cake (we were both getting quite full by the time!), and enjoyed the crispy merengue on top and the creamy inside. The restaurant is just on the river, and there are some tables with a nice view. We enjoyed the walk to the restaurant along the river on the wooden decking. The atmosphere inside was very relaxed, and we will definitely be coming back.

Tucked away a little, unlike the chains on the high street, but well worth the find. Overlooking the river you go up to the first floor from a rather inconspicuous entrance. I had the ribeye steak, very tasty and nicely presented on a skillet. My husband had the burger, really good size and he loved it. A nice bottle of Malbec and a lovely waitress who served us and gave us some tips on where to go for a long walk in the morning: we actually made it to walk off all the calories! - we couldn`t go wrong with this place.

Sometimes you just want proper food nothing fancy just simple. The menu is extensive and this restaurant is clearly gaining a reputation for delivering the above. We wanted to go on the friday it was fully booked and were offered the thursday. With no plans for the evening and a quick nod from the missus we booked in . We were told about the roof garden at the hotel next door. It was so good we went before and after dinner.
For supper we had prawns and steak tartare and for mains I had the ribeye and my wife the fillet. Perfect, for drinks we had cocktails , we thought the cocktail map was a nice touch , the list was extensive and my caiprinha was spot on.

Came here on the second night we stayed in Cambridge. My boyfriend had their surf and turf burger, really substantial, fresh and tasty (I ate quite a bit of it much to his annoyance!). I had the salmon, again nicely done and marinade excellent. We went to Byron burger the day before, good but not a patch on the burger here in terms of taste and size. A really nicely designed restaurant with great views over the river and friendly staff.

On the basis that people are more likely to write negative reviews than postive ones after reading TA we though we would give it ago. First impressions were good the reservation was dealt with efficiently and politely. We requested at table by the window but were informed that it could not be guaranteed.
A little tricky to find the restaurant is on the river next to the punting boats. The entrance is unassuming but the main restaurant is nicely furnished, particularly the lighting.

We were met by a waiter who offered us a drink as we were early ,he suggested we visit the roof terrace at The hotel next door , the bar on the hotel roof is something special we ended up having Pimms watching the sunset.
When our table was ready the roof manager came over to let us know our table was ready.
By this time the restaurant was full and several people were being turned way .

We loved the food , good portions all perfectly cooked. For starters I had the smoked salmon and for mains we shared the Chateaubriand. To finish we shared the cheescake.

The food is simple but super delicious,we would recommend as the roof and restaurant combined make an excellent unique experience.
