Description: The River Bar Steakhouse and Grill, with its cavernous loft-like vibe, quayside location and creative crowd, has become one of Cambridge's premier restaurants. Located close to the bustling town centre, in a riverside spot opposite Magdalene College, The River Bar Steakhouse and Grill is a popular choice for special occasion dining and drinks. The Grill serves the very finest prime cuts of beef, aged for 28 days and sourced from local farms. The menu includes a large selection of cuts, from a classic porterhouse to a tender fillet or indulgent chateaubriand for two. Burgers meanwhile are freshly made on the premises and marinated chicken and fresh fish come straight from the signature grill too. Though based around the steak, The River Bar Steakhouse and Grill caters superbly for vegetarians, serves sublime desserts and prior to your meal we heartily recommend enjoying hand mixed cocktails in the bar, the ideal start to any special evening.

Took my daughter and her friends here whilst staying in the hotel next door, had a really good ribeye steak and liked the hand cut wedges, haven`t seen those in a long time, don`t know why more restaurants don`t do them. My daugher and her friends had the salmon and sea bass which they said was very tasty and well presented. A few cocktails later capped off a really good evening, Great service too from the Italian Manager, Gino, very professional and knowledgeable - will certainly return

I've eaten here before and really liked the food. It's a different hidden away venue that's full of lovely fresh cocktails. Only disappointment was the over priced soft drinks and soda water costing £3.65 <--- That is unnecessary! I understand paying for quality and happy to do so but excessive prices for standard soft drinks isn't right. I will visit again but I won't be purchasing soda water!

A very nicely located steakhouse with nice views of the riverside if you visit during the day, it is definitely recommended for the creative menu and wonderfully fresh grilled steaks and fish. The food was well presented and equally important, very flavoursome. The dessert was exquisite as well. However, the very expensive glass of sherry with just about 2ml in the glass was disappointing, as I like to sip sherry throughout my meal!

The downside would have to be the lack of an ambience and poor seating arrangement. The place does get crowded after a point in the evening, and it is literally possible to hear the entire conversation of your neighbouring tables, and navigating around tables is no easy task!!

Staying in Cambridge with family on a short break. Was recommended this steakhouse by a friend who lives here and we were not disappointed. I had a really good surf and turf, very tender fillet steak cooked perfectly medium rare with a wonderfully cooked and tasty lobster on top. All very nicely presented. Wife had a Ribeye which she said was very juicy - all washed down with a very good Malbec. Chef in a kilt! cooked some plain chicken and chips for the fussy children so they were happy. This really comes close in quality to a couple of frequently visited and more expensive steakhouses in Manhattan. Good service too in a lovely building, will be returning.

Thinking of somewhere to go we were recommended the river bar by the staff at The Mitre pub around the corner. The setting is great on the river. What you would expect from a stylish London type restaurant.

We shared the Camembert to start ,I had a Sirloin and my sister the Rib Eye both served with Wedges and watercress accompanied with a nice bottle of Malbec. They were cooked perfectly. We were offered desserts but couldn't face , perhaps next time. Highly recommend.
