“fantastic food and absolutely first class personal service”
Reviewed April 5, 2010

We stayed at The Tree at Cadmore End as it was close to the Chiltern Valley Wine & Brewery where we had a tour and wine tasting. Although the rooms are still a bit basic and the bathrooms are in need of refurbishment, this was more than made up for by the quality of good and extremely personal service. Nothing was too much trouble, they booked a 6 seater taxi for us to go to our tour and the most marvellous executive car turned up with a really helpful driver who picked us up later. The food was fantastic a really nice unusual mix of english and indian dishes. The breakfast menu was really different - it was lovely to have a choice as well as the traditional english breakfast, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, cheese and beans on toast even a traditional indian breakfast. The decor inside the pub and restaurant was absolutely beautiful - highly recommended.

We were looking for a valentines dinner in the area and most restaurants in the area were offering a meal around the £30-£40 per head region. I found that the Tree were offering dinner bed and breakfast for £80 so we thought we would go along.

As previous reviewers have said the rooms could do with updating, the cleaning could be more thorough and our room was cold when we first arrived, we popped the heater on and it soon warmed up. I didn't notice any noise from the motorway.

We had a superb dinner, the service was very good and there was a good (and reasonable) wine selection. The menu is a mix of traditional dishes (we had venison steak and halibut for our main course) with a good selection of dishes with an asian influence. I had a tomato and basil consomme for starters which was incredibly tasty and almost clear - a long way from a tin of Heinz!

The restaurant is leaps and bounds ahead of the accommodation at present, but at this price we weren't bothered at all, we were both able to have a lovely meal and save getting a taxi home. It was also explained to us after our breakfast that the management are planning to refurbish all rooms soon. They already have their new beds which are huge and extremely comfortable.

I can't wait to see what they do with the rooms, but as we are not far away, we have now found somewhere great to eat

Stayed at the Tree during the month of Jan for a weekend getaway with the wife. Have to say when we walked in got a lovely welcome from the staff and were showed to the rooms. The rooms were large and the new beds definitely contributed to the great nights sleep. But the surprise was when we booked into to the restaurant for a meal for dinner.
The food from the scallops to start to the corn fed chicken for the mains and the chocolate fondant to finish were to die for. It was beautifully presented aswell as the quality of the ingredients definitely showed in the taste of the food.
We will definitely recommend this establishment to friends and family brilliant food and service "Keep Up The Good Work"

My husband and i have just stayed at The Tree. We are expecting our first baby in a matter of weeks and wanted to take advantage of a night away. We are quite local but wanted somewhere for a break from the 'norm' whilst not spending too much money! The deal we got was fantastic. The valentine package offered a delicious 4 course meal, cooked breakfast and the bedroom for £80! We could not fault the service. As i am heavily pregnant there were certain things i couldnt eat and i needed extra pillows etc for comfort. Nothing was a problem and they even bought me a cushion at the dinner table without me having to ask!!!
The room is due some updating but we actually had a very comfortable night and the service and friendliness took the attention away from this.

This is a pub/restaurant with a bedroom block at the rear which is on a main road close to M40 The Good- nice cosy pub recently refurbished and good food with Indian/Thai specialities ,high level of service. Good to order cooked breakfast. Large room and good value price for the area at £59.00 for double inc breakfast. Free wi-fi. The Disappointing-noise from M40 so ear plugs if your a light sleeper, cold room on arrival and cold laminate floors in room .Breakfast only served to 8.30am midweek .Cleanliness of room poor, dusty bedside table tops and previous occupants soap left in shower soap dish which is unacceptable. Its a pity because it would be good if room issues were sorted

Lovely clean well presented hotel, the food was superbly cooked, prepared and presented. The breakfast is cooked to order and used good quality ingredients.
The room was large and perfectly fine - a standard corporate hotel type room, rather than a cosy farmhouse b&b type, and our bathroom fittings were a little dated. The bed was comfy though our inability to gauge the correct setting for the room heater had us sweltering in the middle of the night.
We had a Dinner Bed & Breakfast deal on a special offer and it was phenomenally good value. We wanted somewhere closeish to home to escape our 3 small children while the grandparents took over - we're wondering when they're next available!

Having frequently driven past the Blue Flag and then the Tree, we deided to try it out when we needed somewhere to stay in the area. We were not disappointed. We were earlier than the stated booking in time, but our room was ready and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our evening meal was excellent - with lots of choice for me as a non meat eater. Breakfast was superb. The whole deal was very good value for money.
The only downside was that our room was very dark as we backed on to the woods and we were on the ground floor. We also had to get out of bed to switch off the light as there was no bedside lamp - although I am sure that it would have been rectified if I had mentioned it. I would request a first floor room next time (and I hope there will be a next time)
