We've been going to SL since it first opened and always felt special as the manager and staff welcomed us at the door, shook hands, remembered our names. We recommended it to friends and it was our 1st choice for an Indian and it was usually buzzing. But how it has changed since the change of staff. We were the only people in and yet it took a prolonged stare at the 3 staff who were either taking phone orders or chatting to get out order taken. We finally got our starters after 40 mins and yet they were keen to get us to buy more drinks. The two dishes we had were indistinguishable from each other and gloopy.
I think one of the issues is that those who call in or phone in their orders get priority in the kitchens over those punters sitting alone in the restaurant itself.
After this experience, we won't return for a while - The SL needs to return to a personal service, better staff (in and out of the kitchen) and to dump the red food colouring.

We booked for a table of 8 for Saturday night. The yseemed surprised to see us bit showed us to a table in the back room - not the best but the front was pretty full. Seemed to be the same menu as the previous owners - fairly standard Indian choices with a few extras - but good choice.
We ordered popadoms which arrived quickly and were fresh and crispy - very nice.
It took over 30 minutes to order food and then it took another hour to arrive. I asked a few times if we were likely yo get fed that night and was told that a large take-away order had slowed down our order. As the restauarant was about 25% full it must have been a huge order to slow the kitchen down this much!
When the food arrived it was all nice or very nice - we shared a number of different dishes (tandoori and korma for the conservative and medium spicy coconut & chili chicken and a prawn dish I forget the name of).
Service was reasonable and they did offer us a complimentary drink each at the end of the night as it had been so slow. Despite getting this as 'normal' from the previous owners (we were regulars though) it was a nice touch.
So.....overall? It is our local and being able to walk there is a major plus (it is the only restaurant in walking distance) and there was nothng overtly wrong with the night....but service was embarresingly slow , the menu a bit staid (or have we been too much?) and the food very nice but not 'hhistoric'!! Price was not too bad at £24 per head inclusive.
My verdict is very good but quite a bit of room for improvement!

This is one of the better Indian restaurants I have been to and being located close to home makes it even better. The food is always great and the menu has many extra dishes that are different from the normal, usual Indian "tikka-marsala" style. Service can be a little slow at times, but then what's the hurry ?
Only marked down slightly due to it's location on a busy main road, next to a petrol station, but once inside you don't notice these things.

I have been most Indian restaurants in Wycombe but this is my first time to the Spice Lounge. Menu is varied with the usuals but also some different dishes. I had the chicken makhani and it was fantastic. Well recommended!
