We wanted to find somewhere which would entertain our daughter's partner's three girls aged 10, 7 and 5. The Dahl's children's gallery proved to be just the job. They thoroughly enjoyed trying all the activities and there was something for all of them. We spent nearly two hours in the gallery, finishing by sitting in the garden in the sunshine with drinks and cake. It proved to be a most enjoyable afternoon and the girls rated it as 'great fun'!

to expensive, for entrance, gift shop to expensive, no wonder it was empty. paid nearly 20 pounds to get in for the family 2 pounds would have been nearer the value for money for children and free for adults. the children had had enough in 10 mins and nothing for adults whatsoever. sorry but you don't have to look to far to find better value this kind of money. some clever marketing done to promote a very poor attraction.

This place had lots of things for the kids to do based around the theme of Roald Dahl's books.
If you have to choose between this and the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre at Great Missenden, do the museum. It's slightly bigger and is more interesting for the whole family. The local village walk is also well worth it. It brought parts of beloved stories to life!
The children's gallery was quite busy, we had booked in advance, as per the website instructions, but they had misplaced our booking when we arrived. Luckily there was space for us anyway. Lucky for them!! I am quite good at complaining when things don't go well! For an hour of entertainment the fee is quite high.
We visited in the afternoon when the kids (8, 5,2) are not at their best so having lots of hands on activities here was great. They particularly liked the fox's tunnel and the instruments. As other people have mentioned, a few items were in need of repair. But all in all there was enough here to entertain for an hour. We were all ready to go after that, though. In the main museum there are more children's activities, in the form of a gallery about Roman times. Our family enjoyed this as much as the Roald Dahl children's gallery, and there was no entry fee for this. Overall, while we enjoyed our visit, we would not go back.

The gallery is quite charming with a fair amount of interactive exhibits based around Roald Dahl's stories. You should try to book in advance as the numbers are limited. The gallery is basically 3 rooms so it doesn't take that long to see everything, and the nature of the exhibits means only 1or 2 people can look at them in any one go. At £22 for a family of five it wasn't great value. I think that more thought could be put into some of the exhibits, for instance there is a giant peach you can go into but inside there is just a microscope,a couple of magnifying glasses with a few things to look at plus a few puzzles that with the space 1or 2 kids could do at any one time. The exterior of the peach looks great but what to use the interior for hasn't really been thought of clearly.Overall it was quirky but there isn't enough to it.However you can go into the main museum for free so it's worth combining the 2.
