“Great Day Out with Thomas For Kids”
Reviewed September 9, 2013

This was our first trip out with Thomas and we were a little worried that we didn't go to the Southampton one after all the negative reviews on this site, but things couldn't have gone better and the kids (3y boy, 1y girl) absolutely enjoyed themselves.

The price is a little steep and it isn't the easiest place to get to, but there was plenty of entertainment around and the staff were so very friendly and went out of their way to help.

The main attraction was the Thomas ride. This was their first ride on a steam train and as the others have said it is a bit short, but you can go on as many times as you want so what does it matter. after the 4th ride we finally got the kids off.

They equally enjoyed the miniature train ride, although for very little kids an adult does need to hold tight otherwise they'll fall off. The punch and judy show and the magic shows also kept them entertained in between rides. The souvenir shop was a bit overpriced but which souvenir shop isn't?

All in all the whole day was fun and enjoyable for the kids, after all that is who it was aimed for, and if you have happy kids you have happy parents too!

“Great day with a group on voucher”
Reviewed September 1, 2013 via mobile

My wife, myself and 2 and 1/2 yr old son only parted with £12 on a group on deal to gain entry and had a great time. Food was good not outstanding but we got change from £10 for 2 meals. Our boy lived riding on the train, exploring the trains, coaches, mail wagons and we found it all really well maintained and staff brilliant. Our boy loved the toy trains to play with and we had a great time all round, older children will love the minutiae railway. Whole thing was £20 including food, toilets were always nearby and compared to our recent Warwick castle trip that cost 5 times as much it was miles better. Only slight negative was that we were plagued, literally all day by wasps- I appreciate a difficult problem to solve but we left our meals early and had to constantly keep moving! Good day all round would recommend.

“A good day out”
Reviewed September 1, 2013

Anyone who loves trains should visit this railway Centre, they have a good selection of trains, carriages and train items on show. Regular theme days are held and its a good day out for kids especially when Thomas and friends visit.

“Excellent - much better than expected”
Reviewed August 31, 2013

My husband and I took our Thomas-mad 3 year old son and our baby daughter on a Groupon deal and had a brilliant time.

I was surprised at how large and well-kept the site was. Everything was accessible with ramps and lifts for wheelchair and pram access and there was plenty to see and do. The museum part was really interactive and my son had fun going inside the trains, coaches and wagons, playing with the signal levers, sorting post on the mail trucks and watching volunteers restoring an old engine. The train ride was short but he was thrilled to spot a windmill (another current obsession). There are several play tables with Thomas the Tank Engine Brio-style track in the visitor centre, which he had to be dragged away from so we could go home.

The staff/volunteers were kind and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and their enthusiasm absolutely shone.

We spent 3 hours at the attraction. The miniature railway wasn't running but it looked good fun.

We'll be coming back for a Christmas special.
