Lovely staff, who couldn't be more helpful. Swimming pool and leisure facilities, good sized room with everything you could want. The only downer was it's in the middle of nowhere, with nothing else to do.

Situated along the A41 on the outskirts of Aylesbury, about 20 minutes drive from the M25. A typical Holiday Inn hotel being a million miles from the Ritz but functional and perfectly adequate plus it has a few extra facilities. We only paid £44 for a double room with breakfast so it would be a check to complain about anything, though the walk-in rate of £154 is a bit laughable. Plenty of parking out the front, reception pleasant enough with a nice bar area and restaurant/breakfast room.

The room was just a little tired and nothing special but we were more than happy with it. Hot powerful shower in a spacious bathroom , TV – but none of the satellite channels worked, tea and coffee but the mini bar was empty and switched off (apparently they were stocked and working in the executive rooms). Bed was comfortable. Our ground floor room had full disabled facilities so I expect anyone requiring disabled access would be on that floor and therefore a previous reviewer worried the hotel would be sued by a disabled person can rest easy.

There is a leisure centre attached with a full gym and a reasonable sized pool plus sauna and steam room which were both lovely and hot. Towels are handed out at the leisure reception. The leisure facilities are nowhere near the level you would expect from a spa hotel, but more than adequate.

Overall, happy with our stay. Staff were pleasant and friendly, prices for a glass of wine at the bar were a little scary, breakfast had a good choice and plenty of it.

Thank you for your comments about your recent stay at the hotel. I am very sorry that the satellite channels were not working, we are now checking these on a daily basis to minimise disruption to our guests.

In reply to your query about minibars. It is a brand standard that mini bars are stocked within the executives rooms. Within a standard room mini bars are available on request as many of our guests like the facility to chill medication or refreshments.

I will forward your comments to the team who will be happy that overall your stay was enjoyable.

Stayed at Holiday Inn Aylesbury for two nights on a Dinner Experience Package. The hotel is just outside Aylesbury on A41, check in was straightforward and we were upgraded to an Executive Room.

The room was of average size, comfortable double bed with sitting area, TV with a handful of channels, Tea and coffee making facilities. An upgraded selection of toiletries in the bathroom.

Meals were above average, room service was prompt and the food was fairly hot on arrival. Breakfast on two occasions was very good consisting a wide variety of hot and cold items. Dinner included in the rate was first class - no complaints.

The pool, and jacuzzi were well maintained although very busy at the time.

We arrived with a heavy suitcase and were booked in room 250- down the hall the desk clerk said.
We looked in vain for the elevator and asked the staff. They adopted a look of blank incomprehension as though such machines had never been heard of in Merrie Old England. So we struggled upstairs with it.They did not offer to help with the bag.

An older or disabled person would have been unable to reach the room.

The housekeeping staff had carts so either they carried them upstairs or there is an elevator reserved for the staff but hidden from the patrons.

In the US this hotel would probably be in serious breach of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The water in the shower was tepid.

They charged 15 pounds (USD 25) for 24 hours internet access)

Aside from that it has nice rooms and a good breakfast.

Holiday Inns should drop this establishment before they get sued by a disabled person who books and is denied access.

Thank you for your comments with regards to your recent stay at the hotel. Please may I apologise that my team did not offer assistance with baggage and that unfortunately the hotel does not have any lifts to the 1st floor.

With regards to accessible needs, I would like to assure you that Holiday Inn, operated under License or managed by Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) takes matters of accessibility very seriously. During the last decade we adopted a structured approach to comply with the various phases of the UK legislation, the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 1995.

As a result at Aylesbury we provide a range of accessible products and services for our guests with a perspective on disability. These include accessible bedrooms, accessible WC, accessible bars and restaurants and accessible public areas and car parking. This is supported by a bespoke training programme for all employees named 'Confidence to Serve All' and is particularly focused on guests with disabilities.

With regards to the hot water, we have since inspected room 250 and remedial works has taken place to ensure that this does not happen in the future.

We have several options in the hotel for internet access, ranging from £3 to £15 for 24 hour access. The reception team can advise any guest of the options available to them.

Thank you for your compliments about the bedrooms and the quality of breakfast. I do hope that you return to the hotel in the near future.

We stayed one night. All of the Hotel staff were excellent and dealt with some 'trying ' guests very well indeed. The long corridors where the rooms feed off did generate a lot of noise, particularly from children who would scream & shout in the corridor. Our morning newspaper was left for us outside the door but stolen by another guest - maybe the hotel should either invest in those little bags which hang from the door (might deter a potential thief) or offer to keep them for pickup at reception. The food was very nice. The bed was absolutely huge and very comfortable. It wasn't easy to spot from the road, if coming out from Aylesbury look for a right hand lane in the middle of the road, but you won't be going fast - not with all those roundabouts!

In a bid to have a break from routine and get some shopping in at nearby Bicester Village we booked a very reasonable Dinner, Bed and Breakfast rate at this hotel. Formerly a Posthouse and experienced Posthouse travellers will be familiar with the slightly bleak and magnolia walled and characterless decor, the rooms are large and the public areas welcoming. The hotel is handily situated to the south of Aylesbury on the main A41 although traffic noise is never an issue. The hotel is low rise with only two floors and has a restaurant which offered a buffet, a set menu or a la carte and the food was excellent. Good facilities at the hotel included a gym and swimming pool although we didn't use these. Staff were uniformly excellent, polite and welcoming.

Two niggles - the hotel room was cold and despite cranking the air conditioning up to maximum temperature, no warm air was pushed into the bedroom so a quick trip to the front desk resulted in us being given a fan heater which soon cured things. Top marks for that. Secondly, and this is really minor, we were offered a morning newspaper and we asked for the Times but nothing arrived. Nevertheless we weren't charged and it isn't exactly difficult to pick up a copy from most places so no harm done but why ask in the first place. Hardly the end of the world.

In summary then, room average - needs a bit of TLC, location - fine, facilities - good, staff - excellent, so good for a bit of R&R and would stay again.

I booked the Holiday Inn Aylesbury for one night purely because I was looking for a hotel within an hour or so drive of Stansted prior to a flight to Faro which was bookable through Holiday Inn's Pointbreaks system (5,000pts for one night). I was very shocked to see a King Bed Suite being offered when I made the booking so I snapped it up and looked forward to the stay.
The hotel is very easy to find just outside Aylesbury and has ample car parking. I believe it used to be a Post House property and to be honest it does look rather dated from the outside, but once inside you appreciate the work Holiday Inn have put in to the improvements and we were welcomed at the reception desk with a huge smile. When the reception guy handed me the keys, I still didn't believe for one minute it was going to the suite room that I had booked but after negotiating the stairs (there is no lift, two floors only) I was pleased to open the door to the room and be greeted by a lobby area and living room to the right. Fantastic.
The suite as whole was a nice sized, with the aforementioned lobby and living room joined by a nice bedroom and absolutely huge bathroom, probably the biggest I have ever been in during hotel visits in the UK. The whole suite was spotlessly clean and although the king bed was two singles attached together (made up with king sheets etc), it was extremely comfortable and we had a good nights sleep in the room. There was also an air condition unit and an older cooling system to make the room a bit more bearable even though it was well into September. The room looked out onto the pleasant courtyard that the hotel surrounds and was all in all very nice. A bit dated as most of these type of older property suites are but for 5,000 points an absolute bargain.

The rest of the hotel was very modern, especially the public areas including the reception, bar and dining room. We had a bite to eat in the bar after some very average food at the Sizzing Pub Co down the road, and it was reasonably priced although beers were £7+ for two pints which did seem steep. The service in the bar area was first class, a credit to Holiday Inn and nothing was too much trouble. There was also Sky TV shown on numerous flat screens in this area.
In the morning we decided to opt for the buffet breakfast and after picking up discount vouchers from reception we paid £9.95 each for an excellent buffet. There was plenty on offer and all items were topped up on a regular basis. Again the service was outstanding.

Finally, there is a popular leisure club attached to the Holiday Inn which guests have complimentary use of. My Wife enjoyed the pool and again said the service was good with towels and lockers available.

As I mentioned it was only a one night quick stop so I can't really offer any comment on surrounding area and proximity to Aylesbury itself. The hotel does seem a bit out on its own but then again it has everything you will need for a stay right there and certainly benefited by being extremely quiet because of this on the Sunday night we stayed.
Overall, for 5,000 points absolutely first class.
