Whether you are vegan or not this is a nice place for a coffee and a snack. The chocolate cake is delicious. It is obviously very popular indeed

Visited VX for the first time today. Great vegan comfort food, reasonably priced. Small but pleasant cafe and friendly helpful staff. We had a large chilli hotdog, cheese burger and banana and peanut butter toastie. It was all delicious, with a minimal wait. Definitely will visit again.

Me and my partner (who isn’t vegan) went for lunch. He had the hell dog, it was really good however the portion size was laughable. I had the burger which was lovely aswell. However, the tortilla chips that came with it were slightly stale and a little chewy and the two orders of fries we had were quite soft and damp which was slightly disappointing. Overall it was a lovely little spot and despite the tortilla chips and fries we will be back to try some of the other options.

Went to this restaurant with a group of friends, one of whom is vegan, and we were underwhelmed. The food was over priced and tasted terrible. The Mac and cheese was stodgy and slimy, the steak was so tough it broke a plastic fork, the burrito was flavourless, as was the philly cheeseburger.
If your wanting good vegan junk food just go to M&S and buy something from their plant kitchen range, can eat it at home on comfy chairs and skip the 45 minute wait time too!!

We visited as a group of three, including one vegan and one veggie, all desperately wanting to love this place. Unfortunately it's hard to know where to start when talking about the issues with the food!

The "mac and cheese" was stodgy, like the pasta had been cooked three times longer than necessary, had a unpleasant, fake tasting tang, and was so sticky it was difficult to eat. The "steak frites" was so hard and chewy it was impossible to cut with the flimsy knives, and had to be picked up and eaten by hand. The "philly burger" is nothing like a proper Philly cheeseburger, the wheat(?) based patty is flavourless and disintegrates as you try to eat it, and very little extra filling is added to provide flavour. The bun is dry, and serving with nachos instead of fries added to the overall dryness. A shame seeing as the fries with the steak frites were probably the only good part of the entire meal! The burrito contained what looked like one of the wheat burger patties broken into a few pieces and shoved into the bottom of the wrap to form a bland stodgy base with other toppings put on top.

Beyond this the café is basically self service: order at the bar, get your own cutlery/serviettes/condiments, no one checks on you during the meal or asks if they can help with anything. We also waited around 45 minutes for our food which seemed excessive as the place is very small and nothing we ordered sounded like it needed that long to prepare.

Why not make a bean based burger stuffed with tasty toppings like avocado, humous, onion rings? Add some chilli, garlic, coconut, anything to give your food a little more flavour, serve on a fresh bread bun and you've got a winner! Or a spicy warming bowl of vegan chilli or a curry? Vegan comfort food has so much potential!

Some serious issues with this place. Not the place to go if you're trying to get into veganism or open others' eyes to it. Such a shame as Bristol could have benefited from a place like this had it been well executed. Would love to revisit if some big changes are made.
