“Excellent all-round independent pub - and one of the best places to eat in town.”
Reviewed January 13, 2014

The Bristol harbour district is crowded with pubs, but it is well worth walking a few extra yards to this one. A genuine gastro pub with excellent home-made meals, tapas, curries and desserts - but with a friendly down-to-earth local pub atmosphere. They always have a couple of nice ales on too. The service is friendly and welcoming. The pub is dog-friendly, and also features a plump pub cat for those who swing that way. Well worth a Sunday lunch or evening treat - or make it your local if you live nearby!

“A hidden gem, perfect for Sunday lunch with friends”
Reviewed December 30, 2013

My first impressions was that this was a nice cosy independent pub style restaurant.
I was pleased to see groups of family and friends dining rather than just drinkers, and there was a very warm and welcoming atmosphere.

It is very friendly and the staff were very accommodating. For example, when asking about vegetarian options they were more than happy to suggest that the chef could modify some of the menu options.

The starters were excellent (nicest Calamari i've had for a while) as were the main meals, especially at very reasonable prices. Definitely felt 'stuffed' afterwards (in a good way). The puddings were perhaps a little bland really, but only compared to the excellence of the main meals.

We will definitely be coming back for another Sunday lunch and would recommend the Rose of Denmark to anyone. A hidden gem.

“Fab family Sunday lunch”
Reviewed November 30, 2013 via mobile

We came here for a family birthday recently. We were 11 adults, 6 children and 2 babies. Quite a challenge to cater for but the Rose coped admirably. We had our own room downstairs with a huge square table which fitted us all around. Much nicer than a long table.
The roast dinners were well received by all and the vegetables in particular were lovely and luckily served in generous portions. Everyone's food was served together as well.
We're looking forward to a return visit already!

“Quallity Sunday lunch”
Reviewed November 17, 2013

Really unexpectedly nice lunch here. Went a few years back but now under new management.

Tasty lamb, delicious vegetables, nice yorkshire and quality gravy. Good ale selection too, and not too expensive. The place was packed so you'll need to book on a Sunday.
