Me and the wife love to eat something spicy and thought we would try Kathmandu as it was across the road from Colston Hall (Micky Flanagan gig, another success). Lovely staff, great meal, no rush, not the cheapest, but VFM!!!

Thank Ian T

Been here several times. Food is always great. Go for the Nepalese dishes as they are full of flavour. A taste sensation. The Mo Mos are excellent. Will be visiting again soon.

This well decorated, entirely family run Nepalese restaurant (mother still does the cooking!) continues to impress year in, year out. It has now been my favourite place to sit down and enjoy a curry in Bristol for nigh on a decade. The standard never drops and the service is always excellent although their location right opposite Colston Hall and just around the corner from the Hippodrome often stretches them to the limit. But, as clientele from all over the country always return for a special occasion there must be a reason.

The Nepalese menu is special because they import their spices from their home town in Nepal giving that authentic flavour to every dish. The food is presented well and there are interests quirks to serving many of the dishes. Everything I have ever had there has been excellent and ever person I have eaten there with from my partner and extended family to old and special friends feels the same.

For my own personal taste, I would try and persuade others to gorge into the platter for four which is a truly amazing sizzle plate filled with different meats etc. all packed with flavour - if you cannot persuade your family or friends try either the Mo-mo of Shammi (but everything is authentic to mother's family recipe). If you like the full-spice flavour you must go for the Kritipur (chicken or lamb - and you don't need to consider having tikka meat as the normal stuff melts in your mouth). There are lovely vegetarian fish dishes as well. Also there is an Indian menu if someone is not so adventurous in your party. I have no idea about the English alternatives but, then again, anyone who goes into an Asian restaurant and orders an omelet or something is weird!

Be under no illusions it is not cheap (unless you eat normal curries which are competitively priced) but it is worth it and I think there is twenty or twenty five per cent off takeaways. But, my advise is go there for a special occasion and really enjoy the food and atmosphere.

The standard of indian food here is well above average but for regular curry eaters they have some Nepalese dishes added to the usual curry house staples.
I've been here sereral times and always go for a Nepalese option and am never disapointed.
The friendly staff coped well with the large group I was with on my last visit.

well we've just got home from an excellent meal at Kathmandu and I am smitten. It's been six years since my last visit and I'm pleased to tell you that this time was even more enjoyable than the last. The service here is impeccable, We neglected to engage in small talk but were pleased to hear the waitress telling stories of Nepal to a young man about about to embark on his travels to the east. The food really is exquisite an experience whether you're looking for traditional Nepalese or Anglo-Indian, the kitchen staff clearly have the pallet of pure genius. Having read some of the poor reviews on this site I find it hard to believe that anyone could have had a negative experience. Disregard their views and go to this restaurant. If you are disappointed I will dance naked through the fountains in the city centre after your meal. the same applies if you enjoy your time there. love to you all and keep on eating.
