“perfect for pre show eating”
Reviewed November 25, 2012

We booked here at 6:30 prior to a show at Colston Hall at 7:30pm on a friday night. We love indian food so this was a no brainer.

We arrived a little early and considering its location it was quiet. It is a little dated inside decor wise and a little cold. The atmosphere was a little lacking too.

The staff however are very friendly and helpful. We chose nepalese main dishes to take advantage of the speciality cuisine being offered.

We chose the Lamb Choyla and chicken kritipur - I think they are spelt right! They were both very very tasty. We teamed it with indian vegetables and rice, naan etc.

I wouldnt say it was the most mind blowing indian food in terms of presentation and taste but it was still a very good experience. It was reasonably priced also.

If i could see an improvement - it would be to the atmosphere and ambience of the restaurant.

I would definitely go back if going to Colston Hall again and would recommend.

“Okay for pre gig meal”
Reviewed November 24, 2012

This place is immediately opposite the Colston Hall so, in terms of location, perfect for a meal before a gig. Three of us went at around 7 pm. We receive a friendly welcome and the service was very good considering the restaurant was fairly busy. The menu offers some interesting dishes but our choices didnt quite deliver. Two of us had lamb with ginger; the flavour was very nice but the quality of the lamb was very poor with lots of grisly bits. My partner had sea bass with butter beans and described it as 'okay nothing special'.

We didnt have starters just poppadoms and pickles. Only one of the pickles was remarkable, the rest failed to excite.

With 2 beers and 2 glasses of wine the cost was £78.

We will go back again, probably, cos its convenient and its worth giving another go.

“Move your feet”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

I agree with many reviewers that the food here is great. We had as many Nepalese dishes as we could - Mo Mo and Wo to start with, Duck Makalu and Chicken Kritipur for main courses. But nobody asked us if we wanted anything else because they were too busy brushing the floor and getting ready for the following day.

We had arrived at about 10.40 after a concert in Colston Hall and were shown to a table. Orders were taken promptly and wine supplied. But by the time we had finished our main course, everyone lost interest in us. I asked if there was any reason why we had not been asked if we wanted anything else and the reply was 'well, it's a busy time.' Up to the time I called him he had been sweeping all around the tables, re-setting tables, moving chairs and altogether making us feel uncomfortable and annoyed. I asked for the bill and also asked him to convey to his manager my comment that this was not the way decent restaurants behaved towards their customers. When she came to take my credit card, she said not a word about it, let alone apologised.

Customer service means attending to the wants and needs of the customer - in other words that the customer is central. Staff convenience - like cleaning up the restaurant nice and early so they can get home - is secondary. This restaurant is clearly focused on the needs of the staff rather than those of the customers - which is a pity because it has clear potential to be something special. It needs decent management that understands how good restaurants treat their customers.

“Amazing flavours, great service, good price”
Reviewed November 10, 2012

As a group of 28 I was worried we'd have slow service and food arriving piecemeal. But I was pleasantly surprised. They were ready and waiting for us, bar drinks were reasonable priced and the starters were different and very tasty. The lamb curry I had was fantastic. The food arrival was paced just right, and the service efficient. The place was roomy and smart - I will definitely return and explore the menu more fully

Well done and thank you

“Great Food”
Reviewed November 7, 2012

Four of us arrived with some trepidation, since the restaurant looked classy and expensive (and beyond our budget!). Yet, the meals were really delicious with fantastic flavors. And in the end the bill was really reasonable. Staff had the rare quality of being highly attentive, yet invisible.
