“The most authentic Indian restaurant I've been to in GB”
Reviewed March 11, 2012

I'm not a great fan of Indian restaurants in Britain. Generally I'm not keen on the menus or the decor but this One Stop Thali Cafe was a fantastic experience and I can't wait to go back. There is a smaill menu, which I think contained only a meat curry, a fish curry and a vegetable curry. Everything is very simple but well presented using authentic Indian serving plates etc. Delicious meal which didn't seem as though it had been modified for the Bristish market. Tasty side dishes and great chai. Lots of local people were coming in with Tiffin Tins to get their take aways. You can bring your own alcohol as it isn't provided by the restaurant. Quirky and original decor - like sitting in someones sitting room. I believe there are another 3 restaurants in the group (all in Bristol). I have been to the one in Clifton, which I really enjoyed too but I prefer this one.

“Poor , disapointing & over priced”
Reviewed February 18, 2012

8 poppadoms & 2 trays of thimble sized chutneys = £15 (one tray not enough). Although the ambiance was nice the restaurant felt cramped. Waitresses not attentive and seemed chaotic. The Northern Thali, main feature paneer, only had 3 diced sized plieces of paneer & little vegatable curry.
The Southern Thali contained battered! tasteless fish, more Iceland (supermarket) than Goan, in a rather bland curry sauce.
On ordering an aloo paratha it arrived late with no filling. £3.50
Overall the portions felt stingy & lacking in flavour and quality.

“Unique dining experience”
Reviewed February 2, 2012

Went to this restaurant with some friends to celebrate their graduation and had a wonderful meal.
The food menu was quite unique in the sense that it was geared towards vegetarians instead of the traditional meat dishes to be found in the more run-of-the-mill Asian dining eateries.
A good selection of wines and local ale coupled with a great atmosphere makes for a superb evening.

“Fantastic restaurant - really not to be missed!”
Reviewed January 30, 2012

What a fantastic thali restaurant, the best I've ever been to - food and service were absolutely excellent. We went for a 5oth birthday, and the restaurant let us in early to decorate the table. A sign of things to come, as nothing was too much trouble for the staff throughout the evening.
The menu is short, but absolutely sufficient for both meat eaters and vegetarians - very good starters, and excellent thali mains - try the chicken! Great breads and the picle tray for the poppadoms is really not to be missed. Additionally, there is a short specials board. I can't comment on the desserts, as the restaurant kindly allowed us to bring in our own birthday cake.
The decor is quirky and fun - green-eyed goddesses peer at you from wall frames, life-sized statues are dressed in traditional dress, and there's lots of use of block-colours and even stuffed flamingoes.
All in all, a truely great experience and really very good value for money - not to be missed.

“Good authentic Indian food & very reasonably priced”
Reviewed November 28, 2011

Being a frequent traveler to India, and a huge fan of Indian cuisine i'm often confused when I order Indian in the UK as it resembles nothing like what i've come to expect. Thali Cafe is the only place i've been served something that resembles true Indian cuisine, right down to the plates it comes on. The cafe's dedication to sustainable sources is highly commendable ; they obviously care as much about the environment as they do about serving up tasty, fresh and very reasonably priced tucker.
