What a fantastic thali restaurant, the best I've ever been to - food and service were absolutely excellent. We went for a 5oth birthday, and the restaurant let us in early to decorate the table. A sign of things to come, as nothing was too much trouble for the staff throughout the evening.
The menu is short, but absolutely sufficient for both meat eaters and vegetarians - very good starters, and excellent thali mains - try the chicken! Great breads and the picle tray for the poppadoms is really not to be missed. Additionally, there is a short specials board. I can't comment on the desserts, as the restaurant kindly allowed us to bring in our own birthday cake.
The decor is quirky and fun - green-eyed goddesses peer at you from wall frames, life-sized statues are dressed in traditional dress, and there's lots of use of block-colours and even stuffed flamingoes.
All in all, a truely great experience and really very good value for money - not to be missed.

Being a frequent traveler to India, and a huge fan of Indian cuisine i'm often confused when I order Indian in the UK as it resembles nothing like what i've come to expect. Thali Cafe is the only place i've been served something that resembles true Indian cuisine, right down to the plates it comes on. The cafe's dedication to sustainable sources is highly commendable ; they obviously care as much about the environment as they do about serving up tasty, fresh and very reasonably priced tucker.

Reliably good authentic Indian curries, thali, masala dosa, aloo paratha and specials.

The food is really tasty and homely. Not overly rich or oily. The menu is slightly limited compared to the usual "Indian"( which are usually Bangladeshi.)
This is a real taste of India, helpful staff and informal.
Good veg and non veg choice.

Kulfi and other deserts available, a bit too wholefood for my taste,
chai was a bit weak and luke warm. take aways available.

A thali is a selection of different dishes served in small steel bowls on a round tray with multiple compartments - like a prison tray! At the One Stop Thali you might expect: rice, dahl, squash and lentil curry, another seasonal curry and a salad (with red cabbage, mango, red onion and coconut...). The food is seasonal, fresh, tasty and simple. The atmosphere is always relaxed and can be quite celebratory. The Easton branch has a very laid back feel to it. You can start with poppadoms and a tray of pickles to share. They have Kingfisher beer and Weston’s Organic Cider (500ml) is £3.80. Expect to pay around £15-20 per head, unless you order lots of wine of course. I have eaten in the Montpelier One Stop Thali many times since it first opened over 10 years ago. The Montpelier branch was the flagship for this successful business and was exclusively vegetarian. They now have restaurants in Easton, Clifton and Totterdown, all serve fish and meat as well as veggie and vegan. I have never had a bad meal and in July when I visited, my meal was as expected; fresh, tasty, a variety of flavours and at just under £8, good value. My only disappointment was that they now serve meat and fish in the Montpelier branch – I think it would be good to keep the flagship branch totally veggie as it was when it started. I know plenty of vegetarians and vegans who are put off by the thought of meat being cooked alongside their meat-free meal. However, I would say this is a fun, friendly and relatively cheap place to take family or friends for a fun night out.

Came in here with some friends for a quick cheap meal and really enoyed the night. Good value for money the staff were a bit slow but the food was great value for money and fills you up! Certainly worth trying this place out. We were in the Clifton Village restaurant which has a relaxed and casualy vibe to it.
