We love this restaurant and visit it about every 3 months.
This visit was after a trip to a local cinema and we were really looking forward to having what has become our 'usual choice'!
On entering we noticed that the staff had changed and the new maitre d' greeted us in a very friendly manner and showed us to a table in a few minutes. The overal ldecor has not changed much but we noticed that the seats have been recovered in a light fabric rather than the previous opulent red (a hangover from the locations previous life as a cocktail bar - and the cocktail bar bottles had also gone to be replaced with wines). The tables were also sporting bright white linens.
Very nice - but we worried the that menu had changed. Nope - and that was good for us as the food is excellent. We did order the usual (Boti kebab starter to share, Pista Murgh with a paratha and Achari venison.)
The food was, as usual, very tasty and the portions may have been larger but the presentation was not as good as previous visits. Almost as if the old chef had left and the sous had taken over but could only produce a less than perfect imitation? Some of the finesse seemed to have gone.
Don't get me wrong - we will try there again (probably in a few more months) but we are worried that this might be the start of a slippery slope.
