Description: San Carlo is a popular and award-winning Italian dining institution in the heart of Bristol's bustling Corn Street. The restaurant's lavish dining room – with tiled floors, neutral décor and electric blue accents – has a unique Mediterranean ambience and is always busy with a vibrant local crowd. The buzzy atmosphere, bold flavours and warm hospitality at San Carlo combine to provide an ideal setting for group parties and corporate events. We love the modern yet authentic seafood-led menu, and favourite dishes include the spaghetti with shellfish, garlic, chilli and fresh basil in a tomato sauce; the classic tuna carpaccio; and the traditional spiced Italian sausages cooked with Borlotti beans and served with grilled polenta.

“Birthday celebration!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 23, 2014

Firstly make sure you book a table because this place is clearly very popular and for good reason! We were visiting Bristol to celebrate a friends birthday and this restaurant did not disappoint. I always feel that the sign of a good restaurant is the lively sound of chatter creating a very lively atmosphere. The food was gorgeous and all 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The service is very attentive but unobtrusive allowing you to enjoy your meal. Make sure you visit this restaurant when in Bristol. Very easy walking distance from The Radisson Blu Hotel.

“Great ambience and good food but staff could appear happier”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 21, 2014

I have eaten at this restaurant many times and a group of four of us visited on Friday 14th February. The atmosphere is always good and the food tasty although the menu could do with refreshing. However the first two bottles of wine we tried to order were not available which was disappointing and the bottle that was recommended was distinctly average. The waiters could do with a lesson in smiling as they're always so grumpy which is a shame because the food rarely disappoints.

“Pre Theatre Dinner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 21, 2014

Visited this week before a visit to the theatre. My first time there although others in our party had been there before some years ago.

We were told it was expensive but I didn't think so.

We only had time for a starter and main and they were all delicious,

I had smoked salmon starter £8,95 and Monkfish in a tomato sauce £17.95 plus a green salad for £2,95. My partner had pate £6.95 and Lasagne £8.50. I am not sure of prices for other diners but they all really enjoyed their food.

The ambience and service were excellent and they made sure we had time to get to the theatre.

Someone else paid for the drinks but a bottle of house champagne was around £35 and it was very good.

Meal for 4 with bottle of champagne, 4 glasses of red wine (an expensive one!) and two bottles of water plus 15% service was £170

We really wished we could have stayed longer and had the full experience and will definately be going back again.

One thing I would mention is that the restrooms were down a flight of stairs so not sure how anyone would cope if they weren't too mobile - I didn't see any disabled toilets on the ground floor but they may still have some

“Definitely must try if you haven't!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 10, 2014

I have been here many times as it is ideal for all occasions! Really cannot fault this restaurant, everything is fantastic from the moment you walk in the door to when you leave. The restaurant itself has a really nice feel to it and all the staff are always very friendly, knowledgable of the food and excellent at recommending wine! The food is really good value for money and you will not leave disappointed.

I shall definitely be returning soon and recommending to everyone!
