Description: The Browns building in Bristol is modelled on the Doge's Palace in Venice and was once part of the outstanding Bristol Museum and Art Gallery. It was restored to its former glory in 1992 and is now very much part of the landscape. Bristol is a city of bridges, boats and beautiful churches with the stunning Georgian Queen Square at the centre and the world famous Clifton Suspension Bridge on the cliffs of the Avon Gorge. So come and join us at Browns for a great atmosphere, delicious food, sparkling fizz and cool cocktails!

We pre booked a dinner for a Christmas party of nine. On arrival we were given two tables pushed together instead of a untied table for nine which broke up the party. All the starters whatever the choice consisted of mainly bread rather than the actual food picked. The mains then arrived but not the two vegetarian choices which were clearly forgotten. It was then very hard to get a waiter to rectify this and every time we did we were promised thirty seconds for twenty minutes while the remaining food went cold. The bill was then over charged the first time until we found a waiter and made them aware of this! They still had the cheek to charge service!!! This was all a great shame as the restaurant has a great location and atmosphere. Food was nice but did in no way make up for short comings

In the centre of town, and a nice place to eat. Staff were helpful and efficient and the food, on the whole, was pretty good. The chicken dishes in particular were nicely cooked and tasty. My companion decided to try the wildboar and chorizo burger but was disappointed that it was very small and overcooked.

We were walking along and came across Browns Bar and Brassirie near the University of Bristol, it was a lovely old building with arches that looked like a church.
The food was modern fusion style, I had a spinach sald with avocado and bacon and a sea bass on a bed of chickpeas and pepper relish, it was nice and light and tasty.
Very nice experience

Great service and worth the price. This is a particularly great spot during the summer to sit out and chill watching Bristol fly by.

Decided on eating here with my son and partners to celebrate my son's Graduation earlier in the day. Very nice ambience in the restaurant with good lighting and well laid out seating. The experience didn't start off well though as when at front of house waiting to be seated a member of staff seemed to ignore us whilst talking on the phone. He finished his call then just left us standing there, a while later a waitress appeared and showed up to a free table. Food was ordered and seemed to arrive fairly quickly, though my own meal was a disgrace. A pie with very little content which became apparent on braking through the overblown crust, there were no vegetables offered with the pie but just mash Very poor quality for the money. During the course of the meal the restaurant started to fill, people were left standing at the front door for ages until one of the staff attended to them, I noticed this from where I was seated. One thing in particular that did annoy me was the actions of the bar staff. The manager should have been managing, obviously he was not as they proceed to 'lark' about behind the bar. It was easy to see the waitresses and kitchen couldn't cope with the number of customers there on the night. Those behind the bar should have been pulled off to help elsewhere in the restaurant. The final straw came when ordering the pudding, the order seemed to have been lost by the manager who took it when the waitress failed to return. My son's partner waited half an hour for a hot chocolate drink and in the end went up to the bar to ask why it had not been made up. The puddings and hot chocolate were not charged for as both the waitress and manager realised how bad the service had been. It appeared we were not the only customers to experience problems as the table next to ours sent their starters back and waited ages for a replacement. In summary..overpriced average quality food but with terrible service, shame really as it is a nice looking place.
