Good clean room not huge but ok. We had the offer of an up grade for £15.00. Nothing really bad about hotel. Breakfast excellent. Not far to shopping area and river. Car park small and £10.00 per day charge. Has pool which is rather small but and dark but its a pool! Overall Excellent Value. Would stay again.

quite easy to find however sat navs do tend to get a bit confussed with the new road layouts around cabot circus. parking is limited so be prepared not to be in thye secure hotel car park. we parked on redcliffe parade. saved us £10 anyway. the hotel itself was very nice. staff were very welcoming and always friendly. room was modern but compact. would have expected it a bit bigger. bathroom was gorgeous though. huge shower. all immaculate! bed wasnt the most comfortable but it was bearable. we were on the first floor and our view was of a huge biffa bin in the car park so not the best but thats what you expect from an inner city hotel. didnt get chance to use the facilities in the hotel but we did have a few drinks at the bar. £5.20 for a single vodka and lemonade!! bit pricey. the bars and restaurants arent to far away. bit of a stroll though. the shops are about a 20 min walk away and can be quite hilly so if you have children your better off getting a taxi or driving there. all in all a very nice chilled out hotel.

The Ugly 60's block exterior promises little but my partner and I found the Mercure Holland excellent value for money. The hotel was scrupulously clean, as was our room which was surprisingly large (standard queen size double) with plenty of space for hanging clothes and storing luggage. The bathroom was large and stylish with a huge and powerful shower (no bath). The bed was very comfortable (firm) and the room very quiet. The location is very central and near the main train station.

The staff were polite and efficient throughout. We did not try the restaurant or hotel breakfast but we did order room service one evening. The food was excellent (large portions) and decent value (£36 including room charge for 2 courses each).

The hotel pool is about 15m x 8m. Reasonable for doing lengths when quiet. The gym had a concept 2 rower, quality treadmill, cross trainer and chrome dumbbells up to 20kg (no weights bench). The gym and pool were complementary and the changing rooms were clean with lockers (require refundable £1) and free towels. We did not try the spa.

We got a good rate by booking well in advance through the hotel website.

Had a 2 nightB&B stay in a family room paying in full with tesco hotel vouchers value £200. Our sat nav needs updates as it sent us round and round the town 3 times before arriving at the rear of hotel for car parks. Car parks are £ 2.50 per hour or £10 per 24 hrs charges are added to your room as you need a special exit card to leave. The check is was smooth and our room 442 was located on the top floor 4th. The hall was spacious and open not like some hotels with endless fire doors. The family room consisted of 2 double beds and a travel cot and we were pleasantly surprised that included a table & 2 chairs comfortably. Only had a shower and with 3 small kids a bath would have been more suitable. The breakfast was typical hot and cold and all the family found something they liked. The swimming pool is 14m length and chest height for me 5'6" all the same depth, no shallow/ deep. Need to obtain pool key from reception and towels are stored in changing area as is the laundry bin for wet towels later which was full and we had to leave ours on floor. There is no attendant so have to sign a H & S form at reception ! After a full days sight seeing arrived back at hotel around 4pm to find maid still doing our floor so opted for a quick swap of towels and empty of bins so we wouldnt be disturbed further. My husband complained of uncomfortable nights sleep but the kids and I all slept well apart from some late guests returning 4am to their rooms. The location is about 15 mins walk from SS Great Britain and 15 mins from Millenium square so was happy with location. Nice little touch in the bar area was a book swop shelf. If were travelled with out children would have tried the spa experiences on offer.

As me and my partner are not from Bristol we found it difficult to find the hotel and the car park which is located at the back of the hotel through a narrow lane. The lift was dodgy taking it to every floor it wanted... Check-in was good, polite receptionist. Rooms were OK, but would not rate 4 star as there was no bath in the room, only a shower. I think the rooms should be checked over before guests enter as there was a pen lid left in the bathroom. Room Service was quick and speedy, but always seemed to be the same boy on room service the whole time we stayed and at breakfast he was there also serving as a waiter!! Housekeeping was brilliant on our second night, room was lovely when we arrived back from a day out.
Only one major complaint, the swimming pool is unattended and the state of hygiene and cleaniness is appalling. I went for a morning swim around 6am and there must have been 30 dirty towels all on the floor. Disgusting. It definetly hadn't been cleaned for atleast 24hours.
Oh, and another thing. You do need to take a taxi into town for a night out, it says walking distance but its not. and dont trust the taxi drivers!! take you wherever they want to!!

A utilitarian looking building, inside it was clean bright and spacious. My room was huge and with an equally large bathroom. A very comfortable 6 foot bed ensured an excellent nights sleep, and the superb shower refreshed me. The hotel was quiet, although my room was at the back. Very handy for a wlak into the city centre.

I have stayed here many many times, and standards have slipped dramatically. I have become so frustrated with this hotel that I now stay in the premier travel inn!!! Towels have holes in, rooms are tatty, toiletries are extremely poor and not replenished (a four star hotel that doesn't give you new soap and no shower caps?!). The rooms can be extremely cold in winter, especially some of the bathrooms, so be prepared to be kept awake by the noisy air con all night if you want to keep warm. Breakfast is poor... stale pastries and very very rude staff! Trying to attract their attention to get a slice of toast is more effort than it is worth as the toast is not really very 'toasted', so don't bother! The pool is great, and the gym has enough in it for a very good workout. Watch out for fire alarms going off at 2 or 3 in the morning. Televisions generally don't work properly, with intermittent reception even on terrestrial channels. This hotel does not cater for business travellers like other hotels who often provide free internet services, it is expensive! There are some rooms with lovely views, but don't pay more than £60 a night for this hotel, and definately do not pay the ridiculous charge for breakfast... this simply is not the hotel it pretends to be, there really is much better value in Bristol. Although it looks plush, it really is heading dangerously close to budget category.
