A good location for Temple Meads rail station and for walking to the centre and the harbour area (about 10mins).

Reception is busy so you might have to wait a few minutes but very helpful.

Its a business hotel so functional rather than stylish. The rooms were a good size and well equipped with air-con, shower and bath etc. Our room was away from the main road and was very quiet. The blackout curtains meant the room was kept dark even in the morning. Good free wi-fi available.

The spa is a large free swimming pool and a gym. There is no free sauna, steam or Jacuzzi.

The bar was well frequented on the weekend we were there.

This is a big hotel which is in the main very pleasant with good sized rooms and lovely breakfast. The sound proofing in the rooms was excellent, especially considering it is on a busy main road. What lets it down a little is the lack of attention to detail, with black mould in the showers and a fridge that did not work (although when this was reported it could not have been sorted out more quickly). The leisure centre was fine, but the ladies changing room was dirty and not cleaned from one day to the next. Needs a bit of a spruce up.

Stayed here for a week in August as was in Bristol on business for a week and it was close to the office.
It's a 20 minute walk to the centre of town. Next to a nice church. Casino a few minutes walk away. Good car park out the back. Although its a tenner a night on top of your room cost.
I ate a few times. The food was good albeit a little pricey. But not too bad. Drinks were reasonably priced. A 3 course meal, a pint and a bottle of water cost me 30 pound.
Rooms were a fair size with a nice desk and big windows. Needed as the room wasn't well lit. But that's standard these days.
Nice bathroom and good stand up shower.
Only got biscuits one out of 7 days so either I wasn't meant to get any with the tea and coffee making facilities or the cleaner was having them herself.
Didn't get chance to use the gym or pool but looked popular.
The one thing I will say is its full of coach trips. Mainly old people. So time dinner right or your be waiting a while. But they were enjoying themselves so no issues.
Would stay here again as the price was good.

Thank you for your review - I must say that really is strange that you only received biscuits one night out of seven!! That's a long stay by the way too - thank you for choosing Mercure!
During August we do become very popular for coach tours- lot's of groups making the most of the summer weather to explore the uk!
Don't forget to visit us again next time you stay in Bristol!

I stayed here for 5 nights in August, avoiding the weekend to avoid any hen/stag parties. I asked for a quiet room and the one I was given was great - didn't need my earplugs at all. Nice room, prompt attention to any requests to reception. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Room not done one day but then I didn't leave the room until 11.30 so probably to be expected. Would stay again.

Room Tip: Ask for quiet room not facing the main road

I stayed here for a break over the bank holiday weekend and chose the hotel due to its location, which cannot be faulted. It's a short walk to all the attractions in central Bristol. The room itself was of a good size and good standard. Car parking is a bit of a joke- there simply isn't enough space in the car park for all cars and yet coaches are let in too. We ate on our first night in the restaurant and we were not impressed. Service was slow and food over priced for what it was. Breakfast was good though as was the bar.

I am very disappointed that you were unimpressed by our restaurant! I do apologise if the service was slow- this is a not a regular practise within our restaurant and I shall certainly share this with the restaurant manager.
I am glad that overall you enjoyed your stay and we hope to welcome you back in the near future.
