For breakfast fry yourself an egg in +10 minutes on one of the slowest hobs of the world. Later you wash up yourself, so the breakfast takes quite a while... Speaking English in the kitchen/common room is compulsory.
Heater in our room did not work, but it was warm enough outside.
Shower delivered plenty of hot water.
Room and entrance keys for every bed, if needed.
Free over-night/bank holiday parking can be found close to the hotel.
Shower/toilet is not in/on the room, but on the floor.
No TV, but free WiFi (every floor has a sender but not all senders connect to the internet, but you can connect to the senders of the other floors as well. the signal is strong enough and the internet is reasonably fast). Nice stuff and other people and reasonable price. In our room I did not hear any traffic noise (might be different in rooms on the street side?)

I have enjoyed my stay. The hostel is great , the host is very friendly and helpful. The place is fantastic as it is central and there is a bus station just infront the door. Sainsbury is just beside the hostel.

I stayed there with my brother for 3 nights. Finding it took us a bit as there was no big signs or anything of sorts, and it was tucked in the middle between the various shops in the street (it's right next to Boots). Check-in was swift, and didn't take long before we were able to get out and explore the city.
While the cleanliness is by no means hotel-like, it was one of the cleaner hostels I've been in, and that includes the bathrooms/showers. Location was quite central, so getting around was very easy, particularly if you're willing to use the bus, as there is a bus stop just a few meters from the hostel which is served by quite a few bus services including the 8/9 bus.
Breakfast is self-catering, you have a bunch of supplies in the breakfast fridge including eggs, meats and various spreads (cbutter, cream cheese, etc.), as well as milk and cereal (among other things).

My only gripes would be the number of showers, only two per floor, which meant I had to wait sometimes in the morning (hint: go to different floors to check if any others are empty). There was also no bar in the hostel to meet other people/chat, we were only limited to using the common lounge, which was great but limited to your floor (although could move up/down I guess). Bristol doesn't have a shortage of great pubs and bars though, so definitely no issues there.

Room Tip: Haven't really made any observations regarding specific rooms, but my brother an I booked 2 beds...

This hostel was bright, clean and efficiently run. It was also in an ideal location for local amenities. Those are definitely the strong points which I would rate highly. The downside was that it lacked space. The bathrooms were in short supply for the high number of backpackers, who scrambled for them in the mornings. Additionally, the kitchen was not a suitable size for hostel accommodation. It was the type of size that you would find in a one bedroom flat! My dormitory was also next to the TV lounge where a late night group of teenage girls were singing their hearts out to what sounded like 'Lady Gaga' tracks, on a Singstar game. This affected my sleep and I was far from 'Poker Faced'. Good, but could do better.

Room Tip: Avoid a room next to the TV lounge!

We were 5 friends staying there. The host was very friendly and helpful. We had a friend staying in an other place but he was every days welcome in Homestay Bristol. Also they let us sleep later the night of the check-out because they knew we went out the night before.
