Owner description: This is a pleasant neighborhood three screen cinema in an affluent part of the city which has a very loyal audience and is also enthusiastically supported by the many students in the area... a little gem that still shines!

Any cinema where you can take a cup of tea in to watch the film gets my vote! Very cosy, good choice of films and you can get two tickets for less than £10- unlike those other rip off places I could mention.

Situated above a supermarket this cinema has been going for yonks!!! it is not as exotic as some of the chains but then it doesn't pretend to be and the prices [between 50% and 75% of prices I've paid at major chains] reflect that also. Initially one major screen, it transformed into several studios with up to 120 seats many years ago at which point the supermarket took over part of the site [from memory...I was very young then!] Now the seating has been rearranged allowing more legroom and better viewing angles.
I have used the cinema as a child, a teenager, a lover, a father and now as a sole vistor. It has provided fantastic service for children's parties even in the days when the internet didn't allow pre-booking.
I would always recommend this cinema to anyone who doesn't like the glitz and crowds [and the charges] of the major chains. Its major failing is the inability to cope with wheelchair access. That is mainly down to the restrictions of the building.

1  Thank Mike H
