Some 26 members of our club on a visit to Bristol enjoyed a super evening at Harveys Cellars. They gave us an exclusive room for our meal which began in a small intimate bar with a delicious variation on Bristol Cream Sherry involving orange peel. The tapas were very tasty together with the wine or sherry that one could choose. My trifle was one of the best I have ever tasted, I do know my trifles! All the staff were very helpful and friendly making the evening a great success.

We thought Harveys Cellars would be a throwback to Bristol's past, complete with dark, vintage atmosphere and tourist prices. It's not any of these things, relying instead on just-about-fashionable neutral fittings: white walls, leather chairs, minimal art.

It's Spanish tapas, with a good selection of sherries, along with wine, beer, cocktails and soft drinks. We ordered a number of different dishes and shared the lot, washed down with a reasonable white Rioja. The chorizo with honey and saffron is especially tasty, and it's worth trying a sherry or two to finish the evening.

Nine tapas dishes, a bottle of wine and three sherries came to about £74, which we thought was good value for money. The food is delicious and the staff are friendly and courteous. We are definitely going back for more.

Would definitely recommend. Half-flight menu was ideal, especially if two of you order from the same menu. Great introduction to the world of fine Sherry. Cocktails and beer selection also very good. Very hospitable and knowledgable staff.

Just around the corner from the hippodrome this was and ideal place for dinner especially as they do a come back for pudding after the show. We had the bread, olives & oil to start, disappointing with the bread just straight forward white bread - felt there should have been something more attractive i.e. walnut, brown, or ciabatta etc. the bread was boring. The tapas were very nice, but the alcohol is expensive. Also the staff kept coming back trying to sell more I felt, they were over a little to often. The place is really nicely set out and was very quite on the Bank holiday Friday when we visited. I will go back and try this place again.

We booked a table after a recommendation from a friend and it certainly lived up to the billing.

We ate on a Tuesday night and it was pretty quiet, but that didn't really bother us too much as the staff were very friendly without being annoying

The food was excellent; mouth watering tapas at very reasonable prices. We paid £80 between 4 and that included 15 tapas dishes, 4 beers and a couple cocktails; bargain.

The restaurant was trying out some new desserts and asked us to try some, free of charge! It rounded off the evening perfectly.

I cannot recommend this unassuming food extravaganza enough
