“Good conference facilities and friendly staff coupled with a convenient location. ”
Reviewed March 8, 2014 via mobile

This somewhat bland hotel is great for conferences. Rooms are comfortable and the staff are very helpful. Lunch was a bit carb laden and no salad but the team were happy. Dinner was good but the dining room lack any atmosphere. Friendly staff and good wine list.

Rooms are comfortable with great showers and plenty of plugs

This is my third different hotel in Bristol.
Positives
Reception area and bar/restaurant well presented. X-box for kids which was a good touch
Rooms quite modern in decor
Good location
I ate in the bar and the food was good (Pie and mash for main and rib(s) to start
Breakfast - Buffet style but fresh compared to others I have had.
Location - great to explore the city

Negatives

A pair of rubber gloves were left in the room on the bed on arrival (Not sure if this was from a previous guest, maid or I had checked into the fifty shades of yellow kinky room but, not a good first impression.)
For a modern room the bed was pretty uncomfortable and noisy compared to other hotels in the area. I think they could do with replacing
Car park - quite expensive considering but, this seems to be the trend of hotels in the area
Room in the whole had little things I could pick at - Mold in shower, cracks in the ceiling plaster, pillows need repair, etc

Overall
This is a nice hotel but could do with a little bit more attention to bring the rooms up to standards that can be maintained by other hotels close by at a similar price. I will be staying again to see if standards improve and to also try the gym facilities.

Just spent 4 nights here, it's ok but didn't wow me the way I had expected. It appears very grand and plush when you enter the lobby and bar but go beyond and to me just felt very average. The room was very spacious, large tv with plenty of channels to choose from which was good, but the room interior didn't quite say 4 star to me, sorry Novotel. I spent a night at Bristol Haymarket Premier Inn and honestly I was more impressed with that room for £29, it was beautiful. My advice is don't pay through the nose to stay here, it's nothing to write home about in my opinion

We use the Novotel brand regularly for leisure and business purposes and on entering the hotel the first impressions are very good - the lobby area is very well presented. The rooms are pretty much standard but of a good standard and clean.
Our stay here was ruined by the guests next door who decided to start what sounded like a party at 03:00 - I contacted the front desk who came up and asked them to be quiet. They did for about 15 minutes and then started again, he warned them again.
The noise started again at 07:00 after they had argued for a bit and at this point we decided that we were not going to get any more sleep and left. Its a long drive to the North East on hardly any sleep.
I do not blame the hotel for the actions of some of its inconsiderate guests but they should have been asked to leave after the second warning.
Bare this in mind if you are staying over a weekend you may have an issue with kids who have had a few too many !

Stayed here one night on business, an easy 5 minute walk from the railway station at Bristol Temple Meads (however they do have parking if required). Standard rooms are spacious and well equipped and included a small fridge with bottles of mineral water to purchase if you wished. I liked the dressing table that turned easily into a large desk and my standard room also had a good sized sofa and TV. I tend to like to sleep with the windows open rather than use air-con, however my room overlooked the car park at the back of the hotel and at first floor level the external air conditioning units were very noisy overnight, so I had to close the windows and resort to air-con myself in order to sleep The evening menu was good and reasonably priced and you could easily find main meals for around £12-15 (but choose drinks with care as they can easily increase costs) and the hot/cold breakfast buffet was fine too. All the staff were very friendly and one unusual touch was that in the restaurant there were a few tables linked to wall TV sets and headphones, so if you were dining alone you could take advantage of these if you wished - I must admit I was tempted as they were showing a couple of good films! Not the cheapest place to stay, but good quality and I would like to go back again when not on business so I can actually get to explore Bristol itself, as the brochure in my room looked most interesting!

Room Tip: The external air conditioning units at the back of the building on the 1st floor can be noisy at nig...

Stayed here 3 nights in February in an executive room, the parking (£10pn on top of a full price) was convenient and the reception, lounge, and restaurant areas looked splendid. The room on the 4th floor had queen bed, usual desk unit, 1 easy chair, table, fridge, kettle, and nespresso but felt small and was short on drawers. The bathroom looked nice with separate shower and bath but glass panel doors opened onto the bedside, OK for one person but light disturbing for others at night. It also lacked a make up mirror and the pop up drain plugs didnt pop up enough. Overall the room felt like a 3* standard with a big bed and price, bit small for 2, probably OK for 1.

Room Tip: High floor away from traffic.
