This is a standard Novotel. Quite modern, clean and efficient. No "personality" to speak of but that's not necesssarily required. Not fantastic room size and bed was "functional". Air conditioning not up to muster. Parking is more or less compulsory at £10 per 24 hours. I had a poor experience having paid and officiously told I should have validated the ticket with reception (I already had). Not quite as convenient for the centre as one might like. The 3 star review on trip Advisor indicates "Average" and that accurately describes this hotel.

I was attending the Bristol Good Food awards with a colleague last night and stayed over at The Novotel Bristol. We were very impressed with the hotel, especially the friendly reception staff. We started the day off with a wonderful breakfast that was perfectly cooked and very tasty. I would strongly recomend staying at The Novotel and will visit again in the very near future.

All things considered a very good night at this hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful (except one rather grumpy lady on reception), the room was very clean, the bed was great and allowed a good nights sleep prior to a prompt early morning wake up call.

Have stayed here a couple times over the past year when I couldn't get into the Marriott or Hilton. The hotel is well positioned for the station but is not really in the most convenient part of town, as I prefer to be either in the Cabot Circus area or in town like the Radisson. Rooms are clean and modern although I find them rather dark when facing away from Victoria street, or too noisy when facing Victoria street. As with most Novotel there's a sofa bed which can come in handy for families. The hotel carpark is conveniently located below the hotel and charged at £10 per night.
Breakfast is decent but I'm not impressed with internet costs, they do however have two computers with internet access in the lobby. For some reason there always seems to be a queue for check-in, perhaps they should consider hiring more staff. Not my first choice for hotels in bristol but its consistently decent for a short business stay.

I had an average – good experience staying here on Saturday night. The hotel is quite dated generally (I couldn’t help comparing to the one in Leeds which I appreciate is probably newer). My room was a little small and quite sparse – some art, even plastic flowers would have gone a long way. I agree with other reviewers who complained about the bed – even the ones at most Premier Inns are more comfy - and t was difficult to relax on that mattress. I noticed a stag group waiting in the lounge when I checked in and so I deliberately asked for a quiet room to avoid them and any others. I liked how quiet my room was so in terms of location I was well served to an extent rather than being in a hotel slap bang in the centre of town. But the trade-off for that involves a bit of a trek to Cabot Circus, the Harbourside, etc.

Breakfast wasn’t the best. I’d paid half-price the day before and the supervisor wasn’t there to check me off when I went down on the Sunday morning at 8.30. Neither did she come round to check if I’d paid once I was eating which in theory means that any guest could have eaten for free or even a non-guest. The tea was weak (one bag in the teapot) and why oh why did I have to ask for veggie sausages? Surely they should be available all the time. The range of food at the buffet was limited (not even any brown bread in the bread bin) and not a good quality. I wouldn’t have been happy paying the full whack for this breakfast.

All quite ho-hum, really. I'll stay again at the Mercure Brigstow next time.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room on the 4f floor

If you here on Business ditch the car – Train station is 5 mins walk. The room I had was quiet, well appointed but beginning to look like it needs a refurb – particularly fir the price. I stay in a lot of prem inns out of necessity to being close to client sites and many of their rooms have been in better shape BUT admittedly newer builds. Restaurant was good – staff service tipped it over from the average to the good.
The checkout notice that goes up in the lift telling guests the hotspot checkout times is, in itself, useful but oh the irony of only having one member of staff actually at the checkout desk when you KNOW its goanna be busy. Unacceptable.
Free Wifi is standard. Overall acceptable for what you get. Not a bad place. Extremely quiet and nice staff. Just missing that x factor.

Room Tip: 4th floor is quiet. Watch that they lave less parking spaces then rooms and its a cheeky £10 for 24...

Really impressed with this hotel. Great facilities, room and standards of service and cleaning.

Great breakfast options and especially liked the late breakfast time - up until noon. Great if you have had a night out and want extra time in bed.

Staff at breakfast were really helpful. All round a great stay.
