Remembered walking past here a few years ago so came back to seek the pub out for a few drinks on a pleasant summer evening. Did not disappoint! It was very quiet so I asked the barmaid why. Probably due to the Balloon Festival or people away on holiday, plus the pub usually hosts performances on a Saturday night so it's often heaving. Luckily for us there was nothing on so we were able to enjoy a few drinks with one eye on the Rio Olympics in the corner. We noticed a table of people playing Cluedo in the corner - and that they have a quiz on a Monday evening.

Wifi was so easy... we get a bit fed up when pubs make it such a ballache to get onto wifi, so were very happy that this was a straightforward password sign-in.

So - a little cultural gem hidden away in a lovely area of Bristol. Would definitely go back for food, theatre, quiz etc.

Well, what a fabulous pub! Five of us had Sunday lunch and the food was very good indeed. So nice to see a menu with a choice of vegetarian meals. The veggie roast was extremely good. Friendly staff, very welcoming. Our dogs were also warmly welcomed, and given water & treats. Very good pianist added to the ambience. Sunny back garden where we enjoyed coffees after lunch. Highly recommend!

I came here for Sunday lunch with a group. I was immediately impressed by the vibe- well chosen jazz at the right volume, attentive, helpful and relaxed staff, a warm, hip, in fact quite sexy interior design made this feel like the place to be.

I had the beef, which was a resounding success- large portions, genuinely flavourful meat, properly seasoned, well-carved, draped over a huge crispy home-made yorkshire pudding. All on a bed of delicious thick gravy and french mustard. Sublime really. Vegetables came separately in an indulgent creamy sauce.

This was a sumptuous and stylish sunday roast and by far the best I've had in Bristol. The prices are also very very good. Worth making the effort to go specially.

Great pub, spacious, small sunny courtyard in the rear and a built in theatre.

Ive not sampled the food yet, but the menu seems nice and where I've seen people eating there it always looks good.

Have always had good service here.

Popped in here with husband and daughter for bite to eat one evening. Impressed with quality of menu but my husband was disappointed both fish dishes were off. I had the duck which was lip smackingly good. It's a comfortably roomy pub and the Scottish waitress was very nice. Priced higher than some pubs for food but well worth it. More like really good restaurant food. Will certainly be going back.
