Stayed for two nights. Lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff. Food gorgeous. Also wonderful that dogs are accepted but over and above that are made very welcome. This hotel is an oasis of calm in a busy city and it is very lovely and we will return soon. Also the décor is lovely. Anne McCreanor and Don Storey. (And Sam the dog!)

Stayed for two nights in one of the suites, huge room, mezzanine floor with a freestanding bath and separate monsoon shower. I could have stayed in the shower for the whole weekend to be honest. Extremely comfortable.
Dont be put off by the location, in reality it is 5 mins walk to the harbourside and shops, and even though it may not look like to much from the outside - once inside you realise that you have made a good choice, even if you arent staying in the hotel, the bar has an extensive wine, gin, rum and whisky lists, whith staff that know them inside out and the atmosphere is very relaxed and cozy

Room Tip: Treat yourselves and book a suite

We have stayed at other HdVs and found them excellent. Thinking the same for this one, I duly booked us in for 3 nights B&B. Never again. Here's why:

1. The parking situation is horrific and confusing, and the staff don't/won't care.
2. No-one showed us up to our room or helped with luggage. Very poor for an allegedly four star hotel, and something we've never experienced at other HdVs.
3. Room is titchy, dingy and badly lit. Pillows awful, bed creaky and horrible. Air con didn't work, and despite two complaints all we were rewarded with was a fan. Then spent all night attempting to sleep in a hair dryer.
4. Breakfast dodgy, concluding in being presented with a semi raw sausage.

Sorry HdV but you need to seriously sort this hotel out. We won't be back.

Stayed here on business in late May, excellent service from start to finish, all the staff were great, the room was gorgeous and huge (brilliant for the price) and I wish I was staying for pleasure, not work!

Only down side was my room faced the front, so there was bit of noisy from some rowdy bar guests as they left. There seemed to be no double glazing which would reduce noise a lot.

Room Tip: Maybe get a room at the back, away from the road and entrance which can get noisy.

We stayed for one night in May at the Hotel Du Vin, it was very welcoming and the staff were very efficient. The room was huge and the bathroom was excellent and what a shower!, we had a studio which had a sitting area as well which was very good, the bed was actually more comfortable than we thought it would be. We eat at the Bistro the waitress was very friendly and very helpful, the food was good however we were not impressed with the breakfast. Even though this hotel is in the middle of Bristol it was very quiet, we would stay again.

I went expecting a lot but the Hotel du Vin met and exceeded them. Great conversion into a quirky boutique hotel. As you go through to the open, spacious bar you pass the wine cellar, open to view and complete with a small tasting bar inside. Closed and locked unfortunately!
The Bistro was well staffed and managed, great ambiance, lots of tables of all sizes. They can do a nice small table for 1 up to special dining rooms for all sizes.
Very well cooked and presented food. My starter of mushrooms on brown toast was delicious though not as good as the tempura oysters that came as a taster.
Great range of wine by the glass for us loners as you would expect. A section called curiosities (I think) where I found a Spanish Grenache that went so well with the mushrooms, both earthy and herby.
The fortified Tannet that I had with cheese was like a glass of chocolate.
As the others have said - great bedrooms and bathrooms too.

Room Tip: The Superior Rooms are worth the extra - much bigger. Rooms onto the courtyard will be quieter.

My wife and I had recently had some bad news and wanted to book a hotel stay away to try and cheer up a little. We booked via Expedia and received the confirmation number. Upon phoning the hotel to confirm parking arrangements the day before we were told they had no reservation from Expedia. It is highly likely this was not the fault of the hotel itself, in any case mistakes happen, it is how you deal with them after. Will, the Deputy GM of the hotel, phoned and offered a free nights stay the night after - you cannot really ask for much more as an apology. We accepted and stayed the following night, as well as using the exceptional bistro within the hotel. The room was magnificent with possibly the best bathroom I have ever seen in a hotel - including a 10 foot wide 'monsoon' shower. The service was second to none and the meal was delightful - especially the smoked salmon starter. We will definitely be going back, thank you Du Vin!!
