Not much to look at from the outside as the small entrance hides a pretty big place. We ate early evening on a weekday so the place was deserted but I don't know why, the food was excellent quality and value (they have an early evening deal). The service was acceptable though the waiter was obviously bored with the lack of customers and could have showed a little more enthusiasm given we were his only chance of a tip. We can recommend the lasagne, penne florentine and tiramisu.

First time I visited La Grotta with a group of 8. Had an excellent time. Staff were really friendly. Great selection of dishes even for vegetarians. Great atmosphere. A little gem that needs to be visited.

We have been coming here for over 20 years and I can honestly say they do the best Lasagne ever! Their pizzas are amazing too. Unfortunately, we have been disappointed in many other Italian restaurants and even in Italy, due to our expectations after sampling La Grotta's menu! The sad thing is we have to drive 40 miles to get our fix, so we can't come as often as we would like! La Grotta, please don't ever change!

I had to do a second review after having another fantastic meal last weekend. We turned up without booking (we are going to get caught out one of these days!!) the restaurant was really really busy. Luckily there were a couple of tables free. The 2 waiters who are always there at weekends, Mario and Augusto really are a credit to the restaurant, they look after everyone so well and work extremely hard.
The Food – as always Steaks were cooked to perfection and some of us even managed a pudding this time, I would have loved some of their famous cheese cake, but sadly for me it was sold out.
I feel the need to comment on the atmosphere, given the “Hens Beware” comment, the restaurant must be really popular for Hen parties as we have seen lots of them when we have been there on a Saturday night. Don’t let that put you off, if you are wanting a romantic meal as you don’t have to sit right next to them either as the restaurant is in an L shape and you can sit around the corner for a quieter spot.
Have lost count of many lovely meals we have had at La Grotta, Well done guys keep up the good work.

TRY IT YOU WON’T BE DISAPPOINTED
