Went here for the first time on Sunday 18th November, for a Sunday lunch with a group of friends. The food was fantastic, good size portions was just enough to be pleasantly satisified, and good value for money.

We've booked for December can't wait to go back. Would definately recommend.

What can I say? This pub is so friendly you are made to feel like one of the extended family (who all work in and run the pub) every time you visit! The food....well every time I have eaten here has been filling, moreish and completely satisfying and absolutely excellent value. It is definitely a "gastro" pub food-wise but without the high prices you tend to pay at most "gastro" pubs in Bristol - i.e. The Kenny, The Albion. I've tried the burgers - freshly made....excellent chunky chips and side salad...I've tried the smoked haddock fishcakes..again..warming, filling..fresh as you could possibly imagine. One thing to definitely try is their dauphinoise potatoes..I don't think I have ever tried any better! Lots of cream, lots of garlic...

Sunday lunch...well this is certainly a highlight and I recently took a group of friends from London for a truly scrumptious and traditional treat! I had the home cooked rare roast beef with Yorkshire puddings, fresh vegetables, roast potatoes, the AMAZING dauphinois potatoes and the yummy gravy. It was also a friends 30th so we ordered a selection of puddings - again..absolutely yummy, blueberry crumble, warm chocolate brownie with ice cream and apple and blackberry crumble - divine. The chef (Dave's mum) even managed to find a candle to stick in the brownie and the whole pub ended up singing Happy Birthday to my rather embarassed friend! I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Booze wise..my boyfriend always goes for the Doom Bar and they serve Thatchers and a range of other ale's...I'm not a big ale drinker but my boyfriend is and he says they serve a good pint. I tend to go for the Merlot (very reasonably priced and very drinkable) and they do a super G&T with a twist (well worth a try!)

Go and find this hidden gem in Clifton Wood if it's the last thing you do in Bristol!..and say hi to Dave!!! Also make sure you book in for Sunday lunch as they are usually very busy!

Also if you have any furry friends...this pub is very dog friendly. Go visit!

As the other review says, not gourmet food - but also not gourmet prices - great value for money., great people running it, good beers too. A hidden away gem.

This is a lovely drinking pub that does great food rather than a gourmet pub. Went with my parents and husband. We had the lasagne (really could have fed two but my husband managed to get through it himself) the risotto - great comfort food and tasty, the ham, egg and chips and the lamb burger with chips - again good quality and tasty. The chips were fab and deserve a mention, homemade and genuine potato!! Everything came with side salad of pomegranate, tomato and leaves and I expect it was free range but that wasn't something we checked.

The food wasn't pricey but the portions were satisfying (for four big eaters) and the atmosphere and beer were good.
