“Small park with a nice view on the river”
Reviewed November 3, 2013

Good for a morning run with a nice view over the river. It's next to the "old" town and key center hotels. The church is a bit of a ruin and a few places would use an uplift, fixing. Overall, good green space, as usual in UK :)

“Pleasant green space”
Reviewed September 18, 2013

Castle Park is a pleasant green space in the middle of Bristol, in between the shopping areas of Cabot Circus and St Nicholas Market. Nice enough a place for a stroll or a picnic. There's a church ruins in there (where I went hunting for a temporary Gromit sculpture). I think I read somewhere that the park is located on the remains of a castle, hence the name.

What caught my eye the most was the playground. The equipment were all made of wood, styled into peasants and soldiers and farm animals, making the playground take on a look of a medieval walled town. Seek this spot out if you're in the park.

“Disgracefully Neglected”
Reviewed June 14, 2013

I had been to this park on previous visits and found it pleasant and informative. But it is currently in an appallingly neglected state. The pathways and grassy areas on my visit were unkempt and litter-strewn. The historical remnants of the old castle were overgrown with weeds and the information signs faded and unreadable. A disgrace to the City of Bristol.

“Scary at night.”
Reviewed January 16, 2013

Castle park is lovely in the day especially when it is sunny, I would recommend avoiding it at night though!! In the day time it is a great meeting place and it is really close to the shops in the galleries and in cabot circus. Great for picnics.
