“Several Visits failed to Impress”
Reviewed February 22, 2013

We won't go again.

One barman serving (again) which makes for a very long wait for drinks, another barman seemed to be serving drinks for the diners. Table booking system was fair, food was fair, salad cart a mess and waitress good.

On each visit it seems the pub could do with a good deep clean, in particular the toilets, where one toilet was 'out of order' and some time after on our next visit was still in this condition. At this visit we complained about the lack of cleanliness in the toilets and the stand in manager agreed and advised their cleaner hadn't turned up, (although this wouldn't explain why it was in this state on our previous visits) She was very pleasant but refused to give her name!

We wrote a letter of complaint with our receipt and received a response & complimentary vouchers. On our return the toilets were still dirty and the disabled toilet lock was still broken.

So we give up and won't return-it's cheap but not so cheerful!

“Just Average”
Reviewed February 11, 2013 via mobile

I've eaten here on a number of occasions with most being quite average it isn't one of those places that the food makes you go WOW but on the plus side you get quite a good selection of meals and drinks and decent value

“Average - but can vary!”
Reviewed February 1, 2013

I visit here becasue my partner likes Harvester. We used to to to The Crown at Longwell Green but prefer to travel because we found it was better quality at Snuff Mills.

Having said that - the quality varies. Usually as others have stated, there is only one person on the bar, serving botht e bar and table drink orders. this is crazy and there is always a delay in getting drinks (last visit my table-ordered drink arrived as I finished my main course and had been ordered at the same time as the food!)

Last evening we were taken straight to a table - very unusual but we were pleased not to have to wait. Ordered drinks and a shared starter and two mains. The drinks took 18 minutes to arrive! (one barman, one waitress for all drink orders). Starter (Nachos to sahre) was adequate. Then came the long wait. Our mains took an hour to arrive. When I commented to the waitress about the long delay her only comment was "we're very busy tonight" and walked away.

My Sirloin steak is best described as a 'lump of meat' rather than a steak as it didn't have a lot of shape. However, flavour was good. My partner's "chicekn tripple" was rather dry and needed more sauce than came with the dish, so we resorted to a further trip to the salad cart to get more dressings - Ah - all the dressing bowls were empty......

We didn't bother with dessert because we had alredy been in the restaurant for an hour and three quarters and wanted to get home (it was supposed to be a simple easy option to cooking ourselves).

Most of the problems could be solved very very simply - MORE STAFF. I know staff cost money but I WILL be thinking twice before returning. If it wasn't for the delays I would be a much more regular visitor - oh hang on - being a more regular diner would mean more income for the restaurant and therefore extra staff costs could be covered.... Simples !!

This is not the faultof the Staff but more a Management issue - if this comment is read by anyone higher up the chain then PLEASE take note.

“Last time we'll go here”
Reviewed January 27, 2013

We have visited in the past on a number of occasions with no problems, but no more. We had to wait over 1.5 hours for a table even though we could clearly see several empty tables that were not filled during the time we were waiting. When we did eventually get a table, the food took a long time to come and some of it was cold. We just ate it because we were really hungry by this time. We gave up waiting to be asked if we would like dessert and just asked for the bill instead. I don't know if there were staffing issues or what the problem was, but we certainly were not made to feel welcome, did not enjoy the experience, and won't bother coming back.
