“Great place for afternoon tea!”
Reviewed October 8, 2013

Quirky surroundings with a lovely feel for afternoon tea. Service was friendly and efficient. Tea was quite substantial with a selection of rolls with different fillings, a huge scone with jam and cream and a good selection of cakes. Tea was served in a teapot with a tea strainer which I hadn't seen used in years! Very enjoyable.

“Family evening meal”
Reviewed October 5, 2013

Impressed by quick reply email to our booking. We did mention we were bringing a 4 year old. And I did ask if this was ok. No reply to that. Our booking was for 6:30. At 6:45 when we were ordering food we were informed there was a large hen party ariving at 7pm with a butler in the buff at 8pm. If we would of known this we wouldn't of booked.
It was a bit uneasy for us as when the big hen party and the butler in the buff we felt we had to leave. We just had to quickly order desserts, slightly concerned a naked man may appear at any time which I don't like personally and as we had a 4 year old with us was most definately inappropriate so we rushed a bit As we felt we were spoiling their fun., we don't often get a chance to dine together so was a bit disappointing.
However the hen party didn't bring out the butler in buff till we left at 8:30 ish which I have to say was most thoughtful.
That aside a fantastic venue, lovey and very nice evening meal. Would defiantly come back and the staff were very friendly. Food delicious! Shame we couldn't book our girls Christmas meal here!!

“Excellent Bistro in Bristol”
Reviewed September 26, 2013

Simple, charming room, this bistro-style restaurant was an excellent choice for our party of ten. Make sure you book as it's a small room. The food is excellent with friendly, efficient service. Highly recommended.

“Lovely restaurant for a relaxed dinner”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

We've eaten at Chin! Chin! on three occasions now. The service is friendly and informative, and the food has always been very good. It's worth checking out the specials, or go for a steak if you're in a meaty mood - someone has had steak each time we've visited, and they have always been cooked as requested, well rested, and very tasty. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for somewhere to spend a relaxing evening eating lovely food, in a chilled and cosy environment. Hope to be back soon!

“Nice food but portions too small on the lunch menu!”
Reviewed September 20, 2013

The service was good, the atmosphere fine, and the food is very nice, but the portions were way too small! Better to charge £12 for the lunch meal or charge £10 without the wine/soft drink and make the portion sizes bigger! I had ham hock terrine and coleslaw to start and the chicken ballotine for main, and all of us agreed that the food was tasty- lovely and fresh, and the flavours were good, but we all left hungry! A shame really, as other than that I can't fault it!

Many thanks for taking the time to write your review - I'd just like to explain to others reading your review what the offer you had was about:

The really popular lunch offer you're referring to is '£10 for 2 courses with a glass of wine', which means a main roughly works out at £5, starter £2.50 and glass of good wine at £2.50. This is fantastic value for regionally sourced produce good freshly to order by our chefs and is meant to be a light lunch option. There are options to purchase sides of vegetables, chips, breads etc which are ideal accompaniments to share and also great value, so I'd suggest adding some if you're particularly hungry or have a large appetite.

We also offer filling sandwiches at £4.95 and lovely cups of soup from £1.50 - all great value again for the produce and care put into preparing the food. Similarly in the evening our 2 courses for £14.95 is amazing value and the portion sizes are much bigger, as you'd expect for an evening meal. Also the Sunday roast is very satisfying! :-)

Your comments are appreciated and I'm really pleased you enjoyed your overall experience - it would also be lovely to hear feedback directly when asked (I asked myself and was emphatically told everything was lovely) as we can consider options there and then to ensure you don't leave hungry or disappointed! Please come and try us again!

Kind regards
Darren
