We prefer this type of individual restaurant rather than the formulaic chain Italians. From the outside the restaurant is very appealling and it is this that drew us across the road dodging the roadworks, this we would not have done to a less appealling restaurant.

We called in to see if we could get a table immediately unfortunately none were available, but were told 15 mins and there would be. We took a drink next door and returned.

We were seated upstairs and benefited from the panamoric view of the street.

All the starters we good except the carpacio of beef which was rather dry as if it had been stood uncovered in the fridge.

All the mains were again good and the particular member of the party who had the carpacio said the main course redeemed the starter.

My daughter felt that her pizza could of been better with a little more cheese.

Overall a good evening out and we would return.

Visited this place as it looked quite presentable from the outside and we prefer these types of Italian establishments to the more chain-orientated ones. Staff were generally good, however when not serving us they did have a laugh and a joke with each other quite loudly at the bar. Food was good but the portions were a little smaller than we had expected.

Popped in here for the first time for a one-course lunch. I has a special: home-made pasta with wild shrooms and a blue cheese sauce. Beautiful! Also at the table a very well flavoured saffron risotto and a monkfish tortelloni that got a big thumbs-up.

Good prices and a very nice house white. Excellent.

After checking in to the Bristol Novotel quite late on Friday evening, my girlfriend and I were looking for something to eat without having to venture too far. We left the hotel at 9pm and didn't have to go far as Marco's Olive Branch was just up Victoria Street. I was delighted that they also had Peroni on tap. The young lady behind the bar downstairs was very friendly and pointed us upstairs to the restaurant. When we got upstairs it was fairly full but there were a few free tables and one of the waiters gave us a choice where to sit. Once seated there were a lot of other tables paying and leaving, which all seemed to take a long time. By this time we had been sat for 15 minutes without a drink or even a menu to look at. The waiters then spent the next 5 minutes clearing tables and faffing about and after another 5 minutes we got up and left. Ironically, one of the waiters said 'thank you, bye' as we started walking down the stairs.

When are restaurants like Marco's going to realise that most customers like me are pretty easy to please. A drinks order and a menu as soon as I am seated is a very good start and doesn't take a lot of time or effort.

As it was, the poor experience turned out for the best as we immediately found Dynasty Chinese Restaurant down a side street which was absolutely superb in both service and food.
