Go during the summer festivities Bristol offers during the summer months. Plenty of drink, food, music and street performers in the heart of Bristol.

“One of Bristol's better ideas”
Reviewed January 31, 2013

Queen Square was in serious danger of becoming side-lined, despite its historical importance. A brave decision to divert traffic, remodel the square, and give it a new role has paid off.

A few years ago, Queen Square was a busy adjunct to the City Centre, with serious traffic problems. The occupants of its beautiful old buildings were lured out to the new glass office blocks created at Temple Quay and elsewhere around the city.

I'm not the greatest fan of many things that Bristol City Council has done (or failed to do) in recent years: but I have to confess that the brave remodelling of Queen Square is one of their triumphs.

Today, the Square provides an impressive "shoulder" to The Centre, enabling office-workers and visitors alike to enjoy the green space, architectural excellence, shading trees, and calm traffic as a place to sit, a place to explore, and a venue for an increasing number of events.

The other half of the remodelling success is that it has attracted businesses (mostly professional firms) to take up those beautiful buildings around the square.

If you're visiting Bristol, you must wander around Queen Square - it's just a step from the Centre.

This square is ace for so many reasons, great place to chill, lots of events are held all through the year, from music to food, screening of sporting events etc. Great place to jog, play footie, Frisbee and other out door fun!

“It's a big square...”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

It's a big square, fine for picnic and concert. During big sport event you can find a big screen. It's nice, nothing of especial, but always a green place for relaxing your self.

“A beautiful melting pot”
Reviewed November 26, 2012

A wonderful green space in the heart of Bristol. A real mixing pot for many nationalities and cultures. Sculpture, football, pianos, frisbees, tai chi, French Markets, and much much more make Queen Square a happening place. Round the corner there's the Old Vic and the glorious pubs on King Street, plus a fantastic Chinese Restaurant. Round the other corner is the Center ( oh well, never mind) and round the other corner is the Watershed and the Harbourside. The Mud Dock and The Thekla lie around another corner.
