We found ourselves south of Bristol with a few hours to spare before meeting up with friends. We found Clevedon Court on a map and wandered in for a mooch. The house was very interesting, and the National Trust guides informative and interesting without being pushy. The gardens were fine if in need of a little tlc. The volunteers in the caff and organising he car-parking were helpful and he tea-cakes tasty. A happy time spent here.

We stopped on the way to the seaside, spent about an hour and a half to wonder around the house and in the terraced garden.
The house itself not big, but nice with beautiful furniture, we really liked the small chapel in the house, decorated with colored glasses.
You can get a great view of the house from the top of the garden, slightly spoiled it the noise of the motorway.
Car park just right next to the house.

Well, I say small, but of course it's much, much larger than our own house! Limited parking and visiting is controlled by closing the front door every 5 minutes or so to spread everyone out. Having said that, there weren't that many visitors when we went, but the door closing still took place! It doesn't take very long to look around this house, but it's lovely nonetheless and the rooms have been beautifully restored and maintained. Tiny kiosk selling the most wonderful homemade cakes and scones!

Lovely old medieval house dating back to the 1300's. National Trust owned but family still lives in part of the house and used to own most of Clevedon and there are very interesting portraits and facts about the area. Just outside of Clevedon and very easy to find. Lots of parking, tea shop, beautiful gardens and views! Very knowledgeable docents on hand in every room.

Our first visit here didn't start too well as, after parking alongside other cars, I was invited to move by the parking steward as I had apparently parked where the volunteers park and might get blocked in (I looked after moving and there were no signs to that effect).
We were pleasantly surprised by this lovely old property - after a 10 min wait outside we were ushered in with about a dozen others and received an entertaining introduction in the entrance hall, after which we could wander around at will and found plenty of interesting architecture as well as the period furniture. The volunteers were only too willing to enthusiastically impart their knowledge in each room if desired.
Outside, the garden is tiered at the back of the house so the fitter you are the higher you can climb and the more you can see but unfortunately noise from the nearby motorway can be very intrusive.
Don't expect something on the scale of nearby Tyntesfield but this is well worth a visit and only takes an hour or so to get around so suggest combining with a trip to Tyntesfield but check opening days / times for this.
