Small but perfectly formed. Watch the steam trains go by and better still have a ride!

Really nice couple of hours

The station drop off takes you to such a pleasant spot for walks and picnics etc - you can hardly tell you are in Bristol!

Also the theme days such as Murder Mystery fish and chip nights etc are excellent

Had a great time on the Avon Valley Railway Santa Train Ride. Took my partner and our 2 young children (1 and 2 years old). Very comfortable and enjoyable ride made all the better with the appearance of Father Christmas. The look on my children's faces when Santa said their names and gave them presents was worth the admission fee alone. Would thoroughly recommend it.

This is one of the friendiess heritage railways I've visited. The staff are welcoming and there's a great cafe serving homemade cake and proper tea and coffee at Bitton Station. The station straddles a path and cycleway that runs between Bristol and Bath and follows the trainline to a halt at Avon Riverside where on decamping the train you can follow a path 50 yards to a picnic area on the banks of the Avon river. The railway lists a number of events throughout the year including steam trains and if we lived nearer we would certainly visit more often.

Thank you very much for your positive review of the Avon Valley Railway, especially in relation to the friendliness of our staff. This is especially gratifying as almost all of our 'staff' are volunteers who give their time freely for the benefit and enjoyment of others.
Their enthusiasm is one reason why this year we were awarded the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service.
Although you livesomedistancedrom us we hope that this will not prevent you from visiting us again.
