Firstly I would like to say that we have stayed in Premier Inn many times in the past (London County Hall, London Stratford, Stratford Upon Avon, Weston Super Mare etc) and have always been very pleased with the stay and have never had any cause to complain.

This time however there were a number of issues we were not happy with. We arrived just before 12 and knew the room would not be ready until later but asked to leave the car there which the receptionist said was fine. She told us the room would be ready after 2pm so we went off into Bristol for the afternoon.

When we returned at 5.30pm we went to the receptionist to check in and were told to go to check in at the self-service screens which is something we have never had to do before. We did this and went up to our room (208). When we got there we found the room had been made up for 3 people and not 4 and there were 2 mugs and 2 glasses and unbelievably 2 teabags, 2 coffee sachets and 2 sugar sachets. There were also not enough towels so I called reception and we had to wait for them to call us back to sort out someone from housekeeping to come to the room and set up another bed etc

The next issue we encountered was noise in the corridors with doors slamming at 5.30am meaning my 3 children and I did not get to sleep right through and which consequently made them very tired for the day in Bristol today. We actually had to leave Bristol earlier than planned to return home due to their tiredness. When we checked out the receptionist asked if we had had a good night and I did tell her about the doors slamming. She said sorry and she would look into it but that was as far as she took my complaint.

The most disappointing thing about the stay was the breakfast. We know from previous experience how Premier Inn breakfast works and would have expected this Premier Inn to operate as all the others do. We also went at 7.45am to avoid the busy period. However when we were shown to our table we were not offered any Porridge, poached egg, boiled egg, omelette etc as we normally are. The waitor simply left us to it. My son is dairy intolerant and asked for the soya milk but was still waiting for it with his cornflakes 15 minutes later. He had to ask again before it arrived. I asked for poached eggs which took 20 mins and were rock hard and inedible.

There were no jugs for milk to have with tea, there was no bacon, fried eggs or hash browns for ages and when they did arrive the bacon was barely cooked. All in all a very poor breakfast and certainly not as good a standard as all the other Premier Inns we have stayed in.

We will not return!

Perfect for a short weekend stay where you intend to be out and about for the majority of the time and just need somewhere to put your head down at night. Good central location and the price is ok. On arrival the 'express check-in' does not work as to my amusement it said 'go to reception', so hardly an express check-in. But the girl was friendly enough and checking out was quick and painless. Don't expect any facilities, just somewhere good for a short stay to sleep.

This hotel is literally the least attractive I've seen. But don't let appearances fool you. It’s in middle of the city centre. A huge plus if you are in Bristol for business, love to shop, mall is literally across the road, or a mega fan of Primark. Our room was clean, beds were comfortable, TV was up to date and the shower, which I think I can sing all praises to the Premier Inn chains, had great water pressure. Was this hotel cost effective? Yes, I think so. I've visited many hotels, many 4 & 5 stars, and what you get for money is less and less. Checking in is different. It has quick check-in machines, with an option to speak to a 'real person.' As far as food, I wouldn't waste my time with the adjoining restaurant. It’s not cost effective and the food is mediocre. My husband did have one issue, but that was sorted quickly, and with a smile. Parking is a down side. We had to park and pay. Premier Inn does take 15% off the cost but ...you still have to pay which can be off putting. Nonetheless it’s a bonus to be so close to all the city's amenities

We had call on the day to check we were coming and my husband took opportunity to find out about the parking which was great. Very efficient and pleasant check in staff. Very nice big room on upper floor. Minor moan is net curtains between the two sets of glazing which was a shame as great view of Bristol.

The location is excellent. Can walk to the restaurants in Park Street and the shopping is literally over the road. We have booked for two future visits!

on arrival there was a nice young lady who seemed to be a trainee at the reception she was very pleasant polite but took at least 25mins to book us in to our rooms which I do not blame her for as it would seem a lack of direction and training from senior staff.
we had a family room for two adults and two children which was perfectly fine very small compared to other premier inns but think it maybe due to the building and being in busy centre.
the windows are locked which is brilliant when you have little climbers but we all found it very annoying that the net curtain was locked between the glass in the windows and everytime my 3yr old tried to look out to see the buses passing he hit his head against the window as it was a bit of an optical illusion.
there didn't seem to be any ventilation from the bathroom.
the door to the corridor seemed to be the otherside of the wall to where the headboard to our bed was and was very loudly banging everytime someone passed so that was not great apart from that the room itself was clean tidy and basic as expected.
my parents were staying just down the hall from us and their room was all fine except for the same few niggles we had with no ventilation in the bathroom the net curtain being between glass and the additional fault of a crack in the sink and bath apart from that as expected. breakfast was perfectly fine all the usuals bit slow on refilling when certain items run low but again probably due to the number of people having breakfasts. evening meals the service was not so great as it was a beefeater restaurant so real big surprise as they are not the best the food was better than the food in torquay the first night service was not too bad only real problem was when paying the bill as we had a meal deal and our parents did not we could not pay on different receipts \as we was sat together. the second night how ever was the worst service I have experienced in a restaurant. we had booked a table for 7.30pm but took a good few minutes for the host to find us a table she seated us and told us she would fetch the menus but obviously forgot went off too do something else then proceeded to stand around talking to other staff. then another guy walked pass our table (he looked like some sort of manager) we asked for menus he bought them over we ordered drinks again we had a meal deal the parents did not this caused confussion again.
we then ordered our starters which came quite quickly but then we waited an hour between starter and mains with empty drinks and no one coming near our table we had to go and find a waitress to ask for drinks where we was told to go sit down some one would bring them over when asked where we sat the waitress said oh that figures as she was making remarks that the waiter in our area was pretty useless mean while the table behind us had complained as the waiter had been rude to them slamming down plates of cold food and wrong orders.we seemed to wait an eternity for our second round of drinks to come and with a three year old and 5month old in tow made for a few tantrums of boredom . by the time our main meals came we were all feeling fed up and tired the waiter was wearing a trainee badge so again obviously they need to sort out the person training the staff the meals were ok not the best if there had been a harvester near by we would of left earlier and gone there. deserts where quicker to come but again the bill was completely messed up we was overcharged by £10 and could not get it back till the following day . if we did stay at this hotel again we would not use the beefeater again. although the waiter was apologetic but the manager could not give a dam and there was a lot of remarks made that the waiter was not a trainee he was just wearing the badge but whatever the truth they should not be so unprofessional in front of their customers.

Room Tip: don't have room 406 as the corridor door bangs right behind the head bored of the bed

Had a great stay at this hotel, no real complaints aside from the small car park, which is fairly difficult to find.
Staff were friendly, decor was nice and the room was very clean and comfortable (as a standard Premier Inn room usually is).
I had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant, and had some excellent service from the staff who were very friendly and attentive. Food was good and reasonable prices, and I also managed to get a discount as I was given a Beefeater loyalty card, which I was able to use on that meal.
