“Good hotel in a central location”
Reviewed September 8, 2013 via mobile

Stayed here for two nights at the end of August. Nice place with attentive and efficient staff - check-in was quick and painless and we were in our room three minutes after walking into the hotel. The room itself was tidy with plentiful tea & coffee supplies, and the bathroom was very big with a separate shower cubicle and tub.

The room was on the small side, and as the bed was located very near the door I was a bit nervous as to how noisy it would be in the night, but there was no noise from the street and while we did hear other guests' noises in the corridor (banging of doors etc) it wasn't overly disturbing.

Bonus points for big "mini" fridge!

And minus points for practically useless wifi...

One minor niggle I do have is to do with the bathroom - the hot water tap leaks so whenever you run either tap the stand became flooded (would have been good to realise this before leaving our toiletries on it). The bathroom had clearly been redone not too long ago but was definitely in need of some grouting and other minor DIY.

All in all though, had an enjoyable stay at a reasonable price so wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others or stay again myself.

Stayed August 2013, traveled as a couple

Stayed at both of the Mecures in Bristol and this is much better.

The venue was more modern and much cleaner.

Breakfast was a lot better than that in the other Mecure. The location was also better.

No pool here but if you're not that bothered about a pool stay here.

this hotel was clean and tidy, and in a good location for what I wanted to do. but I could hear everything, people walking past, doors opening and closing, I ended up waking a lot earlier than I wanted to because of it. to compensate though the breakfast had a good hot and cold selection :)

We booked two of the river view rooms just as before but this time returned with friends. They had already reserved two rooms next to each other which was great. Our tv in the bath didn't work when we arrived but it was soon fixed. We added breakfast when we checked in for £10 each which was really good with selection of juices, full English breakfast buffet choice including mushrooms & hash browns along with cereals and pastries. I booked directly on their website which is the best value I could find. The parking is £15 a night though but location is great so it's worth it for us! Great check in/out & lovely staff. Even had Moto GP on the tv in the bar!

Room Tip: I pay the extra for river view

Stayed here last weekend found hotel very good rooms smart decor good views. Hotel very clean everywhere and helpful staff. We had a problem with tv in bathroom which was soon fixed. We found the hotel quiet at nightime beds big and comfy. We had breakfast which was very good buffet style and 1 morning ordered off menu eggs benidict and kippers great quality and we never felt rushed. Drinks in the bar were a bit more expensive but most hotels are the same. Eat out in many nice places around Bristol which being a bank hol was buzzing hadn't visited Bristol for few years but will return soon the cabot shopping area is great plenty of shops to choose from. Would recommend this hotel to everyone.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for river view room

Booked this as a last minute weekend away with very little knowledge of Bristol. We were therefore very happy to find the location of the hotel absolutely perfect for access to everything we wanted without the need of the car. It's only a 10 to 15 minute walk to the newest shopping centre which is an excellent one and there are also numerous bars and restaurants within walking distance .
The hotel itself is very comfortable and clean and the staff very professional , polite and friendly.
The rooms are quite spacious with all the accessories you would hope for like tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryer, safe , toiletries and my partners favourite item, a tv in the bathroom !
The bathroom could be seen as a little dated, but with a very high standard of cleanliness which is far more important.
Breakfast is buffet style and absolutely superb, it's quite some time since I've tasted such good quality bacon and sausages in a hotel breakfast and everything was plentiful and hot. The buffet also caters for continental breakfasts with a good selection of meats, cheeses, pastries, cereals, fruit and yogurts. The restaurant is also a very pleasant space and the staff very friendly and efficient.
The only down side is that the hotel, due to its location doesn't have it's own parking facilities though the NCP car park is quite literally next door and therefore very convenient . This however also means that it is very expensive. The hotel validate your parking ticket at reception which allegedly gives you a 25% discount, however I am in doubt as to wether this actually works as we seemed to pay the full rate.
None of this should deter anyone from staying at this hotel though, as it is something which you encounter whilst staying at many city hotels and something that they cannot be held accountable for.
To summarise, great hotel and great staff and would recommend.

Room Tip: The river view rooms have the potential to be a little bit noisy if you are a light sleeper.

Booked into this hotel for a short stay and found it to be very comfortable. Good location in old city of Bristol.

Rooms were clean and smart. The breakfast was also good. Did not stay for dinner but had drinks in the bar, the prices were a little expensive. Overall would recommend and use again.
