“Nice chain hotel in centre”
Reviewed February 7, 2013 via mobile

Well-appointed chain hotel in centre of Bristol. Rooms are well amenitized with iron and a pre-pay minibar package that, while not cheap, at least eliminates the fear of phantom charges. Good breakfast, be sure to pre-pay that as well.

I booked through Last Minute and chose the room with a riverside view on the fifth floor.

It is an excellent hotel and it is in a excellent central location, but it is let down, and let down badly, by the parking provision - which is the pocket sizedNCP next door.

Aside from the smallness of the spaces and ramps (which even an estate agent would describe as 'compact') it was the shock of the cost - £20 even with the hotel discount, from 3pm until 7am. You only discover this when you put your ticket in at the car park itself - the hotel validates (20% discount) but does not accept payment itself. The Ramada charges a flat £5.

It's a shame because otherwise this hotel is a little gem that I'd recommend to anyone for a city break.

Room Tip: Research cheaper parking before you go.

Many thanks for your kind words. I’m glad my team made your stay enjoyable. If you want
to come back and stay with us again, remember to book on the Mercure website directly to get the best rates available. I wil also pass on your feedback to NCP car parks regarding the spaces and charges however, I was pleased that you took advantage of the exclusive 25% discount NCP offer our guests. We stay in this hotel frequently. It is clean and comfortable and within walking distance of many bars restaurants and local attractions. The hotel does not have a car park of it's own but there is a multi-story just behind. Be aware that head room is only 6ft- we cannot park the Land Rover there. They have painted double yellow lines outside the hotel, which is inconvenient. There is on street parking available. Ask the hotel before you book if you have a tall vehicle. Bristol is difficult to get around by car and parking is not easy, so a hotel like this one which is within walking distance of shops and restaurants is a boon.
Book your breakfast at check-in for a discount, otherwise it is quite expensive. There is a breakfast place about 100 yds away which is nice and much better value.
A gym is allocated about 50 ys away, you can use it free of charge with your room key.
Our only complaint is about pillows which are rubbery and uncomfortable.

Room Tip: All the rooms seem to be identical but an upgrade gets you a room with a water view.

just returned from this hotel after a one night stay for my wife's birthday. Fantastic hotel, staff cant do enough to help, wonderful atmosphere no matter what age you age etc.
Paid £88 for a night with a river view via hotels.com well worth every penny. Rooms are fantastic clean and very spacious and very modern. The only downfall is with the corridoors and rooms having wooden floors you can hear everyone moving about as we found out from the drunks coming back late at night with high heels on . If you stay here make sure you book a priviledge room so you get the fridge full of drinks free of charge and the wonderful coffee machine in your room, coffee to die for.
Great location for restaurants and the local theatre at a short walk and also within 10 mins walk to the cabot circus shopping centre with caters for anything you are looking for.
A++++ would recommend this hotel to anyone and thank you hotel.com

Room Tip: always go for the upper grade of room you get loads of extras
