“A good comforstable stay”
Reviewed September 28, 2012 via mobile

Stayed for one night in a 5th floor double room with a river view. The rooms are well designed, good big desk for working from, a comfortable bed and good lighting (the nearby Radisson should take note). The bathroom was sizeable enough with a decent shower. The tv in the bath tiles is a nice touch but a bit too small to be anything other than a gimmick.

Room service was good with a very decent menu. Breakfast was a cut above with a good mix of buffet and made-to-order food. Nice fresh coffee too. I only have two gripes. Firstly for the chargeable wifi - £4 an hour! Secondly for the noise. The river path is fairly busy and the noise was a bit intrusive at times. The hotel itself was also noisy till late (loud conversations, doors slamming etc) but this was down to the guests, not the hotel.

Nonetheless, a good hotel in a good spot.

A First Class Hotel we were made welcome from the moment we walked in and the staff and Management were very polite smiling and carried out there duties with a sense of proffesionalism.
The restaraunt was good and Menu was very good as had a good choice and the Breakfast Menu was excellent.
Restaraunt staff were helpful and smiling in there work.
The Rooms were very nice clean and modern and the decor was homely and warm.
We had a River view which was ok but water muddy so not a good impression of the view.
No Noise from outside so this made a quiet stay.

Room Tip: Riverside Rooms are well recommended.

I stayed here years ago before it was a Mercure. It doesn't have quite the same large 'boutiquey' feel, and it's a bit worn imparts - net curtain off the hook, toilet flush handle loose. But staff very friendly, breakfast fine. Comfortable and quiet room.

The design of the rooms in this hotel are really different, with a curved arc to one side, and we really loved it. Service was excellent and everything was clean.

We paid a little extra for a riverside room, but due to the trees outside, we couldnt really see the river!

The TV panel in the bathroom wasn't working. When we pointed this out they were very apologetic and we were immediately moved to another room with the added bonus of a balcony, and a view of the river this time.

The price we paid was at the bottom end of their tariff and this was a Saturday night. This was very competitive for the standard and location. Extras could add up if staying for longer than a day or two as wi-fi in the room is not free and whilst there is an arrangement with the NCP car park behind the hotel, this still costs £15 for 24 hours.

Food prices in the restaurant were not excessive but also not enticing enough to keep us from sampling the huge choice of places to eat close by. When we were there the restaurant looked really nice, but it was empty. Breakfast was reasonably priced if prebooked but again, could be had much cheaper close by.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay here and will certainly go again. As you will probably have gathered we do tend to do things on a budget. However based on the service, style, and cleanliness, if we had made full use of all the facilities, I am sure we would not have been disappointed.

Lovely hotel in a really great location, but not the best value ever. Having previously stayed at the Holland House in Bristol I feel that they offered better value due to the bonus of pool and parking. The room was not as big as expected and the tv panel/tile in the bathroom was not working. Neither of these things were enough to ruin our stay here though.
