haven't been here for about 6 years and boy has it changed. have to say i was quite fond of the scruffy, predominantly red and dark wood pub as it was, but it's been cotswolded up. you know, that willowy green colour and golden oak/ pine. still, done nicely, looks smart and had a fair crowd in.
the choice of ales and ciders is great- very rare to have more than one decent cider to choose from! :o) decided to give the food a go and we were very pleasantly surprised. super bread and olives to start and we both thoroughly enjoyed our mains of pork belly and duck.
one point off for slightly over casual service, but i think we'll be back. there's a lot of choice in clifton, but this place holds it own. very good and would recommend.

Myself, 4 friends (and the baby) ate here yesterday and were all impressed as to how good the food, service, decor etc were. We all had starters which were beautiful, and cheap at £4-£5. For mains we all had a roast dinner, being a choice of beef, lamb and pork - all of which were cooked to perfection (and only £10 each). Puddings were also a triumph, and under-priced at only £4 each.
Brilliant service, excellent home-cooked food and a really nice venue too. We will definitely be going back here pretty regularly!

Tucked away in a corner in Clifton village. Good decor & excellent staff. Great range of real ales & ciders. A great spot away from the Clifton poseurs. Wife had Sunday roast which unusally for a meal out was very good & only £10.

The hophouse is undiscovered and I'm glad! Unlike the way too busy Albion it's lovely to have a chat or bathe in the sun out front for pure interrupted pleasure. Bliss! Great food, 241 on Tuesday's and an awesome live music night Thursday and Friday. Plus beautiful roasts to beautiful jazz on a lazy Sunday reading the paper. I miss it!!!
