“Great food, great vibe”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2013 via mobile

Jamie's Italian is a chain you can trust. I've eaten in the restaurant in Bath and Bluewater previously and the food and service never disappoints. That's why I decided to eat here on a recent trip to Bristol as I wanted to be certain is get a good meal in a relaxed setting.

Firstly, it doesn't feel like a chain restaurant. The decor and vibe of the restaurant feels stylish and exciting. The night we went, the place was packed and we had about an hour's wait for food. Luckily there was a table at the bar so we ordered a carafe of wine and some bar snacks and just settled in. As the restaurant and bar started filling up though lots of people coming in decided they couldn't wait so I do recommend booking in advance if you can.

When we were seated, the waiting staff were really friendly and made you feel welcome. We were never left waiting around for ages either.

The food is, as you'd expect, utterly delicious. No ready made, pre packaged microwaved slop here (ahem - Bella Italia) everything is cooked fresh and presented nicely (not too fancy). I had the Fettucine Bolognese which was just gorgeous. We couldn't resist desserts, everything on the menu sounded so tasty.

We ended up spending about 3 hours in Jamie's Italian overall and we had a great night. Would highly recommend to anyone!

“Saturday evening”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2013

Unfortunately disapointing evening due to few factors... no nachos-run out, no olives-run out... beef burger which we used to order very often in Jamie`s Italian in Bath .... this time was just okay taste wise and came cold :-( need to return to heat it up .... embarassing.... wine overpriced ... total bill 89£ and sadly not worth.... never felt this way after vivisting Jamie`s in Bath. Is it something wrong just with Bristol or quality of whole chain is dropping?

“Enjoyable quick lunch - with excellent service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 5, 2013

Had been for a long walk with my friend and her 2 year old son and decided to drop into Jamie's for a quick bowl of pasta. Were greeted by friendly staff straight away and shown to a downstairs table where they promptly brought us a high-chair, kids menu and crayons to keep the (slightly stroppy) child amused. Drinks and food orders were taken swiftly, and the food came out within about 10 minutes or so.
We each ordered a pasta dish, one was sausage pappardelle, the other chicken liver tagliatelle. Both were faultless and fairly priced given the quality. We skipped dessert as the toddler was throwing cutlery at the middle-aged couple next to us by this point. I wouldn't say that I'd go here for a special occasion as it is fairly standard (eg: Strada, Zizzi etc), but I'll go back again as I enjoyed the meal and atmosphere.

“Surprisingly good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 5, 2013

I must admit being a bit apprehensive about dining here, as the reviews were so mixed, and there was always the thought that this was a place trading on its name.
Surprisingly, the opposite is true.
Our waitress was cheerful and attentive. The food was delightful and beautifully presented. House red wine (at less than £20/bottle) was exceptional. Prices were reasonable.
The style of the food is very obviously Jamie's ........ but there is no way the place gets by on his name. It is a really fine eatery in it's own right.

“Underwhelmed”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 4, 2013

I was so looking forward to going , as a family, for a Sunday lunch. I was not expecting small portions ( although what you did have on your plate was Delicious) poor menu choices, especially with the children's menu. You have to pay extra for the bread on your table, which should be free. You had to pay extra for vegetables, potatoes and side salad to accompany your main dish, these are usually on the plate with your chosen item! The portion sizes are small, we all had to eat a dessert, which we don't normally have, as we were all still hungry. NOT good value for money. You don't get a lot of bang for your buck and in this recession when we are all looking for value for money this doesn't fit the bill. I would NOT recommend it. Far better value for money restaurants close to this one.
