Description: The Elephant Public House and Kitchen, within historical St Nicholas St, provides a new destination for informal dining and stylish drinks. The breathtaking ceiling height and features of this 200 year old Victorian pub give way to a recently refurbished interior designed in partnership with award winning bar designers Simple Simon design. As night falls, the Elephant's lighting and cool but comfortable furnishings combine to create an undeniably stylish and relaxed surrounding. We take extreme pride in our service and our staff look forward to welcoming you to The Elephant Public House. Relaxing at the bar, enjoying drinks and cocktails or sampling our first class seasonal food is a must

We visited early on a Saturday evening during our stay in Bristol. We called in for a drink and ended up eating because the menu looked good.

At the bar I ordered "Ale tapas" which is 3 x of the cask brews in 1/3 pint glasses - a brilliant idea. The wife had a glass of pinot grigio.

Now the food - there is a good menu selection and we had homemade fish-finger sandwiches. When they arrived the sandwiches were huge with a pile of home-cooked skin-on fries. Well cooked and tasty pub-grub. My wife couldn't manage all hers, so I had to help-out!

The staff were great - attentive, very polite and easy to get on with and the pub has a calm atmosphere, so you can hold a conversation.

Had lunch wit our son on Saturday whilst looking round the Italian car show. The staff were very friendly, the Timothy Taylor Landlord (ale) went down very well and our son enjoyed his pizza.
We also realised what an interesting area of Bristol its in, maybe we'll do a walking treasure hunt for our friends here this summer.

All in all we were very happy with our visit to the Elephant and can recommend it to anyone in the neighbourhood.

Seemed like a nice pub and our first visit , staff were friendly and service was very good the only thing that let them down was the food ,we ordered Sunday roast for £10.95 when it arrived the beef looked nice ,the veg had been over cooked and very soggy ! The gravy was very watery with no taste and the meal was only Luke warm ,we will not be going back !

Hi Pilatus1

No one likes soggy veg and I'm sorry you experienced that at The Elephant in April. We took over in August and pride ourselves on our Sunday Roast. Since word's got out we've been fully booked most Sundays too, so I'd recommend booking a table and lets see if we can change your mind about us!

Hopefully see you soon

During our 2 day stay in Bristol this was by far the best pub,out of many, that we visited. Well furnished, great staff, great real ales and excellent food. Dined there twice with a further visit for drinks. Very relaxed atmosphere with good background music. Would recommend to any who want a civilised relaxed drink or meal.

Visited twice on recent sight seeing trip of Bristol. First time was for lunch . Pub was quiet. Charming manager made great fuss of us moving tables & chairs to make a table for the six of us. Had reasonably priced snacks. Wine list is extensive but house wine fully priced. Returned for pre dinner drinks next day when the place was busy with after work crowd. All very civilised. Welcomed once more. First rate experience in what could be quite a rowdy cafe bar part of the city.
