Thankyou for a lovely stay, it was just a one night stay but we had a great time. Pulled up outside the hotel, went to reception to register the car with the automated car park number plate recognition system as parking for the day/night is £12.50 for a hotel guest. went and parked the car in the underground car park, there is a lift from there into the reception area near the lobby. Check in was an hour later than stated on the phone (nearly 4pm), so we went to the bar for drinks. Great selection of cocktails and beers, so i asked for a porter to take our things upto the room once it was ready, whilst we had a few drinks and then made our way upto the room, (junior suite.) Room was very spacious and clean, and after about half an hour we had chocolate strawberries delivered to the room, yum....

We spent the night out in Bristol and returned to the hotel for the night, check out was very efficient and quick. If breakfast is not included in the room price then expect a very hefty £17 for a nearly full english.... not very good value in my eyes!

Thanks again for a great stay!

Stayed for 2 nights with a group of friends to celebrate husbands 60th birthday. Hotel was great, rooms very clean and comfy, and all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, from reception,, bar staff through to cleaners. The public rooms were charming, and even though the hotel was busy with several large parties on the same evening, small groups like our own were well looked after. We all enjoyed our stay very much, and hope to return in the spring

Stayed at 'The Royal' for a couple of nights while on a conference at the same hotel. The hotel facilities were of a very high standard for the conference - catering was plentiful and interesting - and the guest accommodation extremely well appointed and comfortable. Beds are king size, with a choice of pillows. The bathroom was sparkling and, even though there was a problem with the hot water one morning, the issue was fixed relatively quickly. Mini bar stocks are supplied on request, and there is a decent room service menu.
The hotel is next door to the cathedral, and very convenient for the Watershed Arts Centre and Park Street shopping.

Room Tip: Some rooms are supposed to have a river view, but you may want to check this as the windows are relatively small. When travelling by taxi, make sure you say 'The Royal' to the cabbie or you could end up at the 'wrong' Marriott. [There's another, newer one, in the city]

We stayed for 2 nights, as part of a 90th Birthday celebration weekend for my father. The hotel was lovely and the staff were absolutely wonderful. Every one of them seemed polite and ready and willing to help us. We were on the third floor in four of the Superior rooms, which were fine. We asked for quiet rooms and we got them. There was a good selection at breakfast and everything seemed in good supply. The hotel is very well positioned on College Green, near the harbourside, the Aquarium, Hippodrome and shops. Our daughter is at University in Bristol and we would definitely stay there again.

Sadly, they do not take dogs and this is always a problem for us, but understandable.

The hotel is really nice: great, central location, next to the Bristol cathedral, very friendly staff, and good rooms. The breakfast was great. I really enjoyed my stay there!

Soon, the bathroom will need some upgrade, but it was big enough and clean/
I do not like Marriott's policy that makes you pay for the internet... But guess it's not hotel's fault.
