“Great Value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2012

We stayed here for a couple of nights with our daughter, the rooms were very clean nicely decorated and very comfortable. We did have a room at the front which was a bit noisy. The breakfast was lovely with lots of choice. We had Wi-Fi in the room but there is a computer downstairs for the guests. There is parking at the rear but better get in early,we came back to the hotel one afternoon and there was no space and no parking on the street.
We then had to spend some time at the pub, its a Wetherspoon pub at the end of the street, great food and a great bunch of locals!!!
The hotel is a little way out of town, but the bus service is pretty good. One problem we found with all hotels is no bar fridge,I don't know why?

Room Tip: If you want peace and quiet choose a room at the back.

We had a wonderful time at the Malago, from the time we arrived to the time we left. The welcome was very friendly and helpful, the room was spotless, breakfast was great as you could help yourself and their was a very good selection for a continental breakfast. The hotel is on a very good bus route to the centre so we didnt have to spend money on taxis. The owners were extremely helpful, we had everything we wanted and in terms of value for money it was excellent. We stayed in one of the back rooms away from the roads and apart from other guests coming and going it was very very quiet. Look forward to a return visit.

Whilst we were very satisfied with the quality of the accommodation provided, reservation could be handled more efficiently. We wanted to cancel a booking for the second night of our stay. As per the cancellation policy, we called in within the cancellation period (24 hours prior). However, we were told that the agent could not do anything about it and there was no parity in the policy stated and that of the hotel. We were told to speak to the manager the following day as the day of the arrival was Sunday and the manager was unavailable. The following day we had to wait to see the manager for a long time and finally nothing was changed and we were unable to cancel. To make matters more interesting, the hotel charged our credit card and further demanded a payment on that day (double payment). The extra amount has been subsequently credited, but the previous confusion could have been easily avoided.
Having said that, we would still recommend the accommodation to anyone who would travel to Bristol as the accommodation and breakfast is superb.

Room Tip: Choose a room on a lower floor if required as there are no lifts.

We arrived after midnight and were welcomed by not-so-pleasant night warden. But who would expect any better at this hour, right? This was the only drawback we experienced.

We had room in second floor facing the tiny cramped parking lot. Rooms facing the main street are very noisy. The free private parking lot is an advantage, but you need to be careful while parking there;) Room was cleand and cleaned every day. There were some minor stains on the pale carpet (stupid thing to have this one in the B&B) and on the chair. No biggie. However, room was significantly smaller than in official pictures, but still all right. Only shower curtain was a bit unpleasant.

Continental breakfast was rich and definitely worth it. Location is fine, Tesco express and corner shops are very close, as well as restaurants. We would recommend nearby Wetherperson just down the road. You will get a very simple map of the neighbourhood with no scale so be careful, some places are very far, despite the seem to be quite close according to the map. Bus stop is just in front of the property.

Overall good experience!

Room Tip: go for room facing the yard and upper floors to avoid being disturbed by cars parking during the nig...

Fantastic value. Booked two rooms both really good. Lovely bathrooms all the amenities including wifi. Staff were really helpful and welcoming exactly as other reviewers have commented. Due to be in Bristol again shortly and will definitely be back. Breakfast is continental with a very good selection of cereals and croissant etc. The restaurant 100 yards down the road is also very good.

Room Tip: The superior single is definitely worth extra and ask for a room at the back. Book directly with th...

Arrived with two friends to a very warm welcome. Malago B&B is about a 20-30 minute stroll to the city centre but there are plenty of pubs, cafes and shops in the local area.
I was in room 6, a single room that overlooked the main road. The window wasn't completely soundproof but it was exceptionally clean and modern and had the feel of a hotel instead of a B&B. Comfortable bed, plenty of tea and coffee available and an excellent bathroom and shower area - very impressed.
I was disappointed to only be offered a continental breakfast, a bit strange for a B&B in England, but there are plenty of cafes nearby.
Overall the stay was excellent and the two staff we met were really friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the rear of the B&B if possible.

My boyfriend and I stayed here last weekend as we were going to the Tobacco Factory to see Richard Herring. We paid £40 for a double room with free parking. The location is great if you're going to the Tobacco Factory and there are also some great pubs to walk past on your way.

When we arrived about 2ish we were given a friendly welcome and the card for our room. We seemed to have arrived during changeover time as there were a lot of dirty sheets piled up on the corridors but these were removed by the time we got back later. Our room was ready for us.

The place looks and smells new. We were on the top floor with a lovely view of some sort of scrap/reclamation yard but if you're staying in this part of Bristol you're never going to get great views. The bathroom was nice, clean and had a large shower although ventilation was a bit of a problem as there are no windows.

The mattress and duvet were extremely comfortable and we didn't hear any noise from other rooms. Plenty of tea and coffee and a decent sized flatscreen tv to watch in bed.

As someone else has commented the fire extinguishers propping open all the fire doors were a bit of a concern. The hotel also has free wi-fi but I have to say from the top floor the signal wasn't strong enough for either of us to connect to.

We didn't make breakfast so can't comment on this.

Overall a great place to stay if you want cheap and cheerful and I would definitely return!
