Hotel looked bland, if not a tad austere, from the outside. But inside it was very much the opposite: Polished and classy. My room was very modern and well-appointed. The black and white decore, extremely cool. The bed was as comfortable as I've slept in for a long time. Bar and dining areas downstairs were buzzing. Food was fine. Only downside of the whole stay was the fact that the car park was full. Apparently it has 200 spaces. Whatever, there wasn't one for me. So I had to nip to the NCP round the corner - and pay £32 (27 hours) for the privilege! Ouch!

Being a Bristol resident I don't often find the opportunity to stay in the hotels here, however as it was my birthday and my mum was coming to stay we decided to stay here.
The hotel was very clean and the beds were very comfortable, however the rooms are very small as are the bathrooms. The soundproofing in the hotel was pretty terrible as we could hear people in the neighbouring room snoring at night, but as neither of us are really light sleepers it was fine.
The breakfast is very good and has lots of choice, although we did have to wait over 15 minutes for a table on Saturday morning.
All in all we would definitely stay in this hotel again, I just wish the rooms were a little bigger and they had a fridge in them!

Centrally located and easy free parking distinguish this upgraded 70's style hotel which will win no architectural awards. A recent makeover (ah, that new carpet smell!) renders it very habitable. Room was quite and spacious and had all the expected business-hotel bits and bobs including free WiFi but was way too cold and no individual heating controls so only option was too call reception for a heater! Maybe its not a problem in other rooms (mine had room-length double glazed windows) but it was clear I was not the first to complain of this. Its strange when a hotel spends a small fortune on upgrading the rooms but not fixing something so basic as the heating. Good breakfast but not cheap. Service adequate.

Room Tip: The road is not busy so probably not a problem for noise but internal facing rooms certainly quiet.

This is the second time we've stayed here and will be returning. We've stayed at a few hotels in Bristol and this fits the bill for us. The location is excellent, and if you're there at the weekend you can park next door at the NCP free of charge as long as the hotel gives you a ticket. (most of the other hotels charge £15- £20 for 24 hour parking) The noise from the bars below and across the water can be excessive and for this reason I'd ask for a quiet room. It does mean you won't have a view but you will sleep well. The bedrooms we've had have been very spacious and comfortable but the bathrooms are small. I've found the staff to be extremely courteous and professional too. Definately a thumbs up from me.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room if you want a peaceful night.

Whenever we visit our son in Bristol, it's a joy to stay at The Bristol Hotel. From the telephone call to check availability, through check-in and during our stay, to finally (sadly) checkingout, we have never been met with anything but a very high standard of professionalism by friendly, helpful staff. Special thanks must always go to the front desk staff, who are polite and informative to all their guests, yes, even the awkward ones!

Breakfast is buffet style in the restaurant, overlooking the water..There is always a good selection of fruit juices, fresh fruit, cereal, cheeses, rolls, croissants, toast and pastries, not forgetting the cooked English breakfast section with a choice of eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms etc. etc. Tea, freshly brewed coffee, cappuccino, hot chocolate etc. are also offered.

The hotel has a great location, overlooking the water and is ideally situated for sightseeing, shopping, the theatre, or visiting art galleries etc. Temple Meads station is nearby and there are bus stops right outside the hotel. A bonus too, is the adjacent car park (no hunting around for parking and a long walk back to the hotel with bags!)

The rooms are clean and well maintained, with flat-screen TV, one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in, tea and coffee making facilities, a really good, hand-held hairdryer (not one of those annoying ones that are fixed and difficult to use), iron and ironing board. Our room also had a Nespresso machine (delicious coffee!) and the use of robes and slippers. Oh yes, and a very good, strong shower, over the bath.
After a good many visits (and looking forward already to the next one), the manager should be proud of his hotel and especially his staff, who always make us feel so very welcome.

Thank you, once again, for a relaxing and enjoyable stay last night, can't wait for our next visit!

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the water, if you can

We booked this hotel about a month in advance and the excellent customer service received upon booking was replicated throughout our stay. The staff here are friendly, efficient and obliging. We received a free upgrade which was greatly appreciated so the room was a good size with a neat coffee machine, robes and a nice harbour view. Everything was clean and the decor was in good order. Overall, the room was as described and very comfortable including sumptuous pillows and a very comfortable bed. We ordered breakfast to our room which was of a good standard (the sausages were excellent and my egg poached to perfection). I can't understand why people would complain about outside noise if they've booked a hotel in such close proximity to the city's night life hub. On the 6th floor this wasn't an issue at all and we were not distracted by any noise. The free car parking is a real bonus and makes this hotel good value for money. If you're looking for a good quality hotel in central Bristol then I highly recommend The Bristol. There are cheaper options but you get what you pay for.

Room Tip: great views and quieter rooms on the sixth floor.
