“Amazing. They know what they're doing”

i was thoroughly happily with my meal. i only order ribeye in places where i know the meat is of high quality, my boyfriend and i are both chefs and were taken out for a meal with family and although not the cheapest place on the block it was certainly well priced for the quality of the meal and service.
we had an excellent waiter and it was a fabulos meal.
thank you guys
only little thing was that our dauphinoise and 'greens' (broccoli) were both cold.

“Great meat .... puddings need a rethink”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 3, 2014

We had Sunday lunch @ the Cowshed and really enjoyed the food, atmosphere, decor and staff. We share whitebait to start .. to leave room for the roast. Nice crips whitebait without too much batter. The beef was rare, as advertised, and very tastey. The mix of veg was good and the roast potatoes nicely crispy. The choice of puddings was a bit disappointing ... they need to be more in keeping with the main course i.e. traditional Bristish. The cheescake with raspberry cream, mango ice cream and a shot of apple and mint jelly was a car crash of flavours ... perhaps trying too hard. Would recommnend for a Sunday roast lunch.

“Wine and steak deal - great value but not quite full marks.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 2, 2014

Came here for the wine and steak deal on a weeknight. A bit of confusion in regards to booking meaning we were initially told we would not qualify for the deal...although our waitress had a word with the kitchen and we did get it in the end, which we were very grateful for. Wine was nice, and the steak was, as expected, cooked perfectly, with such deep flavour and tenderness. The chips were okay, albeit nothing spectacular.
Although the value is excellent with this deal, service on the night was nice and the steak was great, it gets four stars as I don't particularly like the atmosphere of the place. The new room feels cold, and I feel if your not a Cliftonite willing to spend £50 a head in there your ushered in and out ASAP. In addition, whilst the staff were polite, you were given the feeling (which is common in many restaurants with such deals) that you were being a bit cheeky by asking for it. Saying this, its perhaps just not the place for me, it may be more to do with my general perceptions of such clientele than the restaurant itself!

“Early bird catches the worm”

The early bird deal during the week is sensational. The steak is so succulent and tender, which leaves you wanting more (the portion size is perfect). Well worth a visit.
