“This restaurant has moved to a new premises”
Reviewed February 7, 2014

After researching restaurants near to the Colston Hall on Trip Advisor we chose the Urban Wood to go to this week for a pre concert meal. We arrived to find it closed with a "To Let" sign outside. Very disappointed as not knowing the Bristol area we then had to walk around in the rain to find an alternative place to eat. Their website has now been updated and states that they have relocated to the Urban Standard on Gloucester Road.

“Really enjoyed the meal and drinks here”
Reviewed January 13, 2014

Small restaurant around the corner from the main hospital in Bristol. We were seated in the back area which was quiet and well lit. I'd highly recommend the burgers. My partner ordered the pulled-pork burger (highly recommended) and I ordered the cheese and pepper burger. Food was affordable and absolutely delicious.

“Excellent! A hidden gem.”
Reviewed January 2, 2014

A hidden gem! A cosy, relaxed atmosphere.

Wanting a change this New Year's eve we came across The Urban Wood on the internet. The food sounded nice and they had a band playing so thought it was worth a shot.

The food was superb! Generous portions, fresh and presented nicely.

The staff were brilliant and couldn’t do enough for us (Nathanial, Nick & Amy – thank you!)

We were enjoying ourselves so much there that we decided to stay and ring in the new year there.

Would highly recommend!

“Friendly Staff, Lovely food”
Reviewed January 1, 2014

When we arrived we were impressed by the cosy feel of the place and the comic book pictures on the walls ;)

The staff were very friendly, there were 3 people working this evening and all of which were very helpful in particular recommending what drinks/food to have when we were a bit stuck on what to pick!

The lager they had on tap was delicious, I cant remember what it was called now but I would recommend you try it.

The food was really nice, we had Halmoumi cheese and bacon salad and mature cheddar cheese/spinach tartlet for starters and they were delicious, we had the fish pie and a burger for the main and the highlight was the triple cooked chips which were absolutely amazing (we ordered more chips they were that good)

The Deserts were nice but unfortunately you only have a choice of 2, I had Sticky Toffee pudding and my wife had a Lemon Posset which were both really lovely, the Lemon Posset came in a teacup which was a nice touch.

all in all will be back

“What a nice surprise”
Reviewed December 30, 2013

A last minute detour through Bristol this morning (had never been so wanted to check it out) - up and down a few random streets and stumbled across this place. We stopped in for brunch but liked the menu so much we ordered a steak and the squash&bean stew. Food came quickly, service was great, food was wholesome and simple, great decor... What else can I say? Sometimes it pays to look around the next corner :)

Ps. Did I mention the coffee was great too!
